US Director of Field Application Engineering __Job Description:
Technical and Design Promotion Manager positions offered by ABB Inc. (Cary, North Carolina). Collaborate with electrical consultants, end-users, and EPC customers to determine electrical distribution product needs for projects being designed in the automotive, battery manufacturing, commercial construction, healthcare, data center, industrial and utility market sectors. Supply design assistance, product selection, physical layout, value engineering, ABB solution education, and budgeting assistance to gain acceptance of the same into project specifications. Function as the ABB expert in products and applications such as: medium and low voltage switchgear (600V, 5/15/27/38 kV), medium and low voltage motor control (7kV, 600V), switchboards, panelboards, transformers, power monitoring, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), automatic transfer switches (ATS), paralleling switchgear (PSG), generator circuit breakers, system coordination, arc flash solutions, and others. Develop and present complex technical concepts to engineers, contractors and channel partners. Participate in creating and delivering technical papers for IEEE and other industry events and conferences to raise awareness of ABB solutions. Obtain and present customer feedback on new product opportunities, product gaps and market trends to commercial and product management leadership for action. Prepare project analysis information such as technical, commercial, risk assessment and financials for discussion with commercial leadership. Minimum Requirements Requires a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in electrical engineering or a related field and 4 years of experience working with electrical distribution in one of the following capacities: designing power systems and performing consulting engineering; performing facilities engineering at an industrial manufacturing plant; conducting primary services engineering at a utility plant; or performing switchgear and switchboard requisition engineering. Must have 4 years of experience in each of the following: using industry codes and standards, includingANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, NFPA
70E, and UL; working with electrical one-line and three-line diagrams, symbols, terminology, and associated equipment specifications; and, using the Microsoft tool suite, including Excel, Word, and Power Point. In lieu of a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 4 years of experience as stated, employer will accept a master's or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 2 years of experience as stated. Must be willing to travel domestically 50%.
