In partnership with ExOne Global Holdings, voxeljet is expanding its global footprint and strengthening its operational infrastructure to support long-term, scalable growth as a privately held company. The Canton, MI facility serves as a critical hub for U.S. operations and is central to the company's North American strategy. This is not a maintenance role. We are building something great
  • and we need a Head of Marketing ready to build with us. The Opportunity We are seeking a Head of Marketing to own the brand strategy and public positioning of the company
  • end to end.
This role reports directly to the CEO and is the senior marketing voice in the organization. You will inherit a team of three, with direct reports based in Germany, and be expected to lead that team remotely with clarity and accountability. The right candidate brings strategic depth, commercial instincts, and a no-nonsense approach to vendor management. You know how to find the right agency partners, and you know when you're being oversold. You will work closely with Sales and R D to build a brand narrative that is credible in the boardroom and compelling on the shelf. Critically, you are an early and enthusiastic adopter of AI-powered tools. You will set the standard for how our marketing team integrates AI into its workflows
  • from content production to market research
  • and you will drive the efficiency gains that let a lean team punch above its weight.
Key Responsibilities Brand Strategy & Positioning Own the company's brand strategy: define and maintain the brand narrative, visual standards, messaging architecture, and public positioning across all channels and markets. Build and maintain positioning that works across consumer hardware, B2B, and international audiences. Translate complex product capabilities into compelling stories for customers, press, and partners. Cross-Functional Leadership Partner closely with Sales to develop customer-facing materials
  • presentations, case studies, and competitive tools
  • that actually help close deals.
Collaborate with R D on product launch positioning, technical messaging, and how we communicate innovation without losing the customer. Represent marketing at the leadership level: report to the CEO, contribute to strategic planning, and ensure marketing investments are tied to business outcomes. Content & Communications Oversee the production of white papers, press releases, customer presentations, and thought leadership content
  • maintaining quality, consistency, and strategic relevance. Manage PR and media relationships; determine when to use external agencies and how to get real value from them. Develop and execute a content calendar that supports pipeline development and brand authority. AI Integration & Team Efficiency Lead the team's adoption of AI tools
  • content generation, image workflows, market research, campaign analysis
  • and establish best practices that raise the output quality and speed of a lean team.
Identify where AI can reduce manual bottlenecks in content production, localization, and reporting; implement with clear ROI.
Be the change agent:
model AI-forward workflows personally and bring the broader team along with patience and clarity. Agency & Vendor Management Source, evaluate, and manage external marketing agencies and contractors
  • knowing when outside support adds genuine value and when it doesn't.
Negotiate contracts and scopes with a sharp eye for overpriced deliverables and inflated retainers; protect budget without compromising output. Hold agencies accountable to timelines, brand standards, and measurable results. Team Leadership Manage and develop a three person marketing team, including direct reports based in Germany, with a clear emphasis on remote leadership, accountability, and growth. Build a team culture that is curious, efficient, and unafraid to experiment. Qualifications 8-12 years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or director-level role; consumer hardware or adjacent industry strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to own brand strategy from brief to execution
  • not just manage it.
Strong writer and storyteller:
comfortable crafting a press release, a board presentation, and a product launch narrative with equal fluency. Proven track record of working cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Engineering
  • not just creative teams.
Experience managing and motivating distributed or remote teams; international team experience a plus. Hands-on with AI content and productivity tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, Perplexity, etc.) and actively uses them to do better work faster.
