Full Job Description Overview:
The Vice President of Marketing and Communication is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Chief Mission Advancement Officer. This role will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of the Association's comprehensive marketing, branding, and communications strategies. The Vice President of Marketing and Communication drives organizational growth, enhances brand reputation, and ensures consistent messaging across all channels while aligning marketing efforts with overall business growth objectives. Responsibilities:
Directs the development and execution of comprehensive marketing and communications strategies to drive organizational growth and align with long-term mission objectives. Leads the Association's operational excellency initiatives, ensuring alignment with key priorities and institutionalizing streamlined communication workflows Oversees brand consistency across all touchpoints, ensuring a unified voice and identity across all digital and physical channels Designs and manages a high-impact content ecosystem, overseeing the lifecycle of digital, social, broadcast, and print assets to maximize audience reach and engagement Establish KPIs and utilize analytics tools to monitor campaign performance, delivering actionable insights to executive leadership Supports public relations and reputation management, proactively building press equity and leading communications during sensitive or high-stakes situations Leads internal communication to foster employee engagement, cultural alignment, and organizational transparency Acts as a strategic partner to internal teams and manages relationships with external agencies, designers, and media partners Drive the end-to-end planning and execution of large-scale marketing campaigns, signature events, and promotions Maintains and updates all corporate presentations, marketing collateral, and organizational assets Exceptionally skilled in verbal and written communication and storytelling, ensuring clarity, transparency, and core values integration in every internal and external message Ability to translate long-term organizational goals into actionable marketing and communication roadmaps Ability to execute plans and hold people accountable for business goals and outcomes Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team toward high-quality, consistent output Proficiency for data-informed decision-making, using metrics to evaluate effectiveness and pivot strategies based on performance evidence High self-awareness and empathy, enabling effective communication and relationship-building across diverse socio-economic and cultural segments of the staff team and community Ability to build relationships and consensus with executive peers, CORE Team, board members, and external partners Ability to lead a Board/volunteer committee to enhance the planning and execution of ideas Ability to maintain calm and decisive leadership under pressure, with the judgment to protect and defend the organization's reputation in challenging situations Ability to support the CEO in messaging and positioning in support of business objectives Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field is required 10+ years' of executive-level experience required in marketing, communications, public relations, or related experience, including managing an annual budget, staffing, and implementing marketing and communications plans across various platforms Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross American Heart Association American Safety & Health Institute YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act. You do not need to disclose your criminal history or participate in a background check until a conditional job offer is made to you. After making a conditional offer and running a background check, if the YMCA is concerned about conviction that is directly related to the job, you will be given the chance to explain the circumstances surrounding the conviction, provide mitigating evidence, or challenge the accuracy of the background report. Pay Range:
USD $150,581.81 - USD $188,227.26 /Yr.
