YEAR FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER REPRESENTATIVE COMMUNITY LEAD FAMILY CENTER DESCRIPTION
The Family Resources Center Representative Community Lead provides day-to-day support for all students and families of the Norwalk Public Schools community. This position focuses on creating a welcoming environment for parents. The Family Resource Center Representative Community Lead will identify parent and related school/community issues and engage families through parent workshops, community outreach, and more.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
: Increases parent involvement in the district by working closely with all school, parent and community organizations Serves as facilitator for parent and school community concerns and issues including, for example, school policies or facilities issues Organizes events to increase parental and community involvement and creates a welcoming school environment to engage families Manage, schedule, advertise and coordinate Family Center events and provide full calendar management. Participates in all NPS & community events, such as festivals, community "nights out," neighborhood celebrations, and more Building relationships with families and serving as a liaison between families, district, schools or community organizations Collaborate with the Education Administrator for Multilingual Learners to provide a welcoming, friendly, professional environment for families and the community, and to engage them in a smooth transition into the school community Make home visits with school teams to expedite the registration process Assist in communicating a clear vision for family engagement that is aligned with district goals and core beliefs Connect and build partnerships with community organizations and resources that are aligned with NPS strategic priorities to support families Assisting families in navigating and accessing district, school and community resources and services Maintains ongoing contact with community organizations that are involved with providing services to the school's educational program. Act as a point of contact for families who experience challenges navigating system protocols and procedures Support families through the registration process to expedite scholars enrollment procedures Facilitate and engage families in workshops that support students' academic and social-emotional needs within the school district
Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or at least 3 years' experience supporting families Demonstrated interpersonal skills Strong written and oral communication skills Interest and ability to work effectively with school-aged youth, educators, families, and communities from a wide range of cultural, social, and economic backgrounds Bilingual (especially Spanish or Haitian Creole) preferred Demonstrate proficient computer skills using MS Office products, especially
Excel, PowerPoint, Google Apps, and Canva Days:
