Job Description
The Community Engagement & Events Manager is responsible for building and strengthening WUSF Public Media's presence within the community through strategic partnerships, outreach initiatives, public events, and audience engagement opportunities. This role serves as a key ambassador for WUSF and Classical WSMR by developing meaningful relationships with nonprofit organizations, businesses, civic leaders, educational institutions, and community stakeholders. The Community Engagement & Events Manager is a relationship-driven, creative, and highly organized "hybrid" professional—part event strategist, and part brand ambassador. They are passionate about connecting audiences with impactful programming and mission-based initiatives and have the logistical chops to manage complex partnerships and high-impact events.
Minimum qualification:
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience
OR•equivalent combination of education and experience.
Degree Equivalency Clause:
Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree.

A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:
(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
(c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree;
(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
Preferred qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Event Management, or related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
2-5 years of experience in community engagement, events, nonprofit, or media/community relations.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Community Engagement & Outreach
Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, nonprofits, and businesses.
Identify opportunities to expand visibility, audience engagement, and community impact.
Coordinate outreach initiatives that align with the organization's mission and strategic goals. Audience & Brand Engagement
Create opportunities for meaningful audience interaction both in-person and online.
Collaborate with programming and digital teams to promote events and engagement campaigns.
Support initiatives that increase audience loyalty, participation, and community awareness. Sponsorship & Partnership Support
Assist in developing sponsorship opportunities tied to community events and initiatives.
Ensure sponsor and partner benefits are fulfilled accurately and professionally.
Maintain strong relationships with community partners and event stakeholders. Marketing & Communications Support
Assist with promotional strategies for events through media assets and community outreach.
Help create event messaging, collateral materials, and audience communications.
Capture event content including photos, videos, testimonials, and social media updates. Administrative & Reporting Duties
Maintain records of partnerships, outreach activities, and event performance metrics.
Prepare post-event evaluations and recommendations for future improvements.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and event regulations.
