To ensure the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of district-wide communications, physical security systems and low-voltage infrastructure. The Communications Infrastructure Manager plans, implements, maintains, and optimizes the systems that support data connectivity, safety, communication, and operational efficiency across all district facilities. The position emphasizes technical excellence, enterprise-level design principles, preventive maintenance, and professional customer service.QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Network Systems, Electronics, Low- Voltage Technologies, and/or five years of progressively responsible experience in low-voltage systems, network infrastructure, structured cabling, or related technical fields; enterprise or campus-level environments. Demonstrated expertise with structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA), fiber/copper termination, testing, labeling, and documentation practices. Experience supporting or integrating access control, paging, intercom, A/V distribution, emergency notification, security cameras, panic alert systems, and other low-voltage operational systems. Understanding of the OSI model (Layers 1-3 emphasis), VLAN design, QoS, DHCP, DNS, and routing/switching concepts as they relate to network-connected low-voltage systems. Familiarity with E-911 compliance, emergency communication requirements, safety/security system integration, and related regulatory considerations. Experience coordinating contractors, managing low-voltage and network-infrastructure projects, and enforcing technical standards. Valid driver's license with required endorsements and a clean motor vehicle record. Low-voltage contractor license, BICSI certification (e.g., Technician, Installer, RCDD), or comparable infrastructure-industry certification preferred. Key Duties and Responsibilities Communications & Low-Voltage Systems Management Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of intercom, paging, bell systems, emergency communication systems, A/V distribution, and similar infrastructure. Ensure system performance, uptime, reliability, redundancy, and security best practices for all communications-related low-voltage systems. Maintain detailed documentation, diagrams, and infrastructure maps. Physical Security Systems Management Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of facility access control system and door monitoring as well as security camera system hardware and physical infrastructure. Coordinate District Panic Alert System hardware support including integrations w/ strobes, desktop takeover, PA messaging and other integrations. Low-Voltage Infrastructure & Cabling Supervise and schedule the low-voltage cabling technician, ensuring adherence to industry standards and district specifications. Oversee structured cabling installations, fiber runs, certification/testing, patching, labeling, and lifecycle planning for cabling and physical network pathways. Inspect vendor work to ensure quality, code compliance, industry standards, and project specification adherence. Project Leadership & Vendor Coordination Serve as the district's subject matter expert for communications infrastructure during construction, renovation, and major technology projects. Attend construction and technology project meetings to advocate for district requirements related to pathways, IDF/MDF layout, low-voltage systems, and infrastructure readiness. Manage vendor relationships, evaluate proposals, and oversee service contracts, construction work, and system integrations. Technical Support & Collaboration Provide advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and support for low-voltage hardware, software, and network-integrated systems. Collaborate with IT, Operations, Safety/Security, Facilities, and school personnel to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure and building-level systems. Conduct site surveys and support the installation and maintenance of various classroom technology solutions (e.g., display systems, audio/visual tools, and related devices) to facilitate effective instruction. Research emerging infrastructure technologies and recommend upgrades for reliability, efficiency, and scalability. Operational Excellence & Compliance Promote workplace safety and ensure compliance with state/federal regulations, building codes, E-911 laws, and district policies. Maintain accurate work logs, project documentation, cabling maps, test results, and technical records. Use district resources responsibly and recommend technical, financial, or operational improvements. Other Responsibilities Safely operate district vehicles, trailers, and lifts. Maintain accountability for tools, equipment, and materials. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment such as network devices, cabling tools, low-voltage hardware, ladders, and related materials. Ability to climb ladders, work in ceilings, kneel, bend, crawl, and access confined spaces. Ability to differentiate colors (critical for cabling work). Sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination for cable termination, equipment installation, and detailed technical work. Ability to talk and hear clearly for in-person and on-site communication.PERFORMANCE FACTORS
