The Community Engagement Manager will showcase a daily priority on servant leadership and diversity, equity, and inclusion. They are responsible for increasing girl and adult membership by executing recruitment strategies, fostering community partnerships, and promoting the Girl Scout program. They enjoy building relationships and bringing the Girl Scout experience to more youth and adults across Iowa. They are outgoing, self-motivated, goal-oriented, innovative, personable, team players. The Community Engagement Manager provides strategic solutions, presentations, and networking with community organizations, corporations, schools, educators, faith-based intuitions, and other community constituents. This individual will attend and host events, in-person and virtually, across a designated territory and have a direct impact on the overall success of Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa (GSGI). A day in the life… (Essential functions) Identify, seek, and convert new member prospects to increase the membership of girls and adults for GSGI in a designated territory. Collaborate with Community Engagement Team members to meet and exceed membership goals by developing effective customer service, recruitment, and conversion strategies through organization, competitiveness, persistence, and time management. Establish, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with a diverse variety of individuals and organizations to generate membership opportunities, including but not limited to education, business, community and faith-based organizations, leaders, and other community members. Research market data, membership trends, and other essential information important to strategy formulation; identify issues and opportunities; present information to supervisor and team. Develop individual action plans and schedules for target contacts; prepare status reports, including activities, follow-up, and goal progress. Coordinate and schedule in-person or virtual sessions to meet with prospective members in a variety of settings and venues; prepare and present information to audiences intended to increase awareness, interest, and membership in Girl Scouts. Communicate the Girl Scout message consistently to all audiences under the guidance of the Marketing and Communications team. Collaborate with supervisor and team to identify marketing material and campaign needs to promote event visibility and engagement. Share feedback and ideas with the supervisor as needed. Daily follow-up with leads and referrals. Coordinate with council departments to ensure timely conversion and member placement. Communicate and provide solutions to process gaps. Manage the scheduling and task or event completion of seasonal staff during peak recruiting season. Provide clear communication and direction to maximize the effectiveness of the role. Work to ensure Girl Scouting is open to all youth and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council. Promote and assist with council-wide programs, episodic programming, activities, public relations, and fund development endeavors including United Way. Council to council collaboration and GSUSA conferences when identified by supervisor. Manage individual annual budget and corresponding resource allocations. Support council goals in membership and customer support as well as supporting overall council strategies, initiatives, and events. Perform other duties as assigned. The fine print… (Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field. Minimum 3 years' experience in recruitment, sales, account management or related focus. Previous experience recruiting volunteers or members preferred. Previous experience in a sales-related position and knowledge of the fundamentals of effective sales and marketing principles. Strong supporter of Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa's desired culture. Appropriately enthusiastic, responsible, dependable, consistent, Experience building relationships with community leaders or organizations. Ability to adapt, problem-solve, stay solution-focused. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills along with the ability to present information to a variety of audiences. Goal-oriented and motivated. Strong customer service skills. General experience with CRM systems preferred. Strong computer skills including MS Office products. Additional Eligibility Qualifications and Requirements Must have personal, reliable transportation as extensive travel is required for this position. Must uphold and support Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as outlined in our Employee Handbook. Must maintain annual or lifetime membership in Girl Scouts at all times. Must possess a valid driver's license and liability insurance. Every three years, successful completion of a criminal background check and driving check. Flexibility is key. We'll need you to work weekends and evenings as needed. Your Surroundings Generally, climate-controlled office conditions. Position requires outdoor work where heat, cold, precipitation, and the results of weather and nature may be encountered. During different job duties the noise inside or outside can become very loud. Extensive travel (80-90%) within the designated territory. Occasional out-of-state travel to relevant conferences. Weekend and work evening hours are anticipated throughout the year as opportunities to host or attend events are identified. Expect an average of 2-4 work evenings per week during peak recruitment season. Depending on logistics of an event, overnights may be needed (potential of a couple nights a year).
