Job Description

Lead FFA Sponsor 225 E 10th St, Brookville, IN 47012 $3,600 a year - Part-time $3,600 a year - Part-time Position Summary The High School FFA Sponsor serves as the advisor and leader for the school's chapter of the National FFA Organization. The sponsor promotes student leadership, agricultural education, career readiness, community involvement, and personal growth through classroom integration, supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs), competitions, conferences, and chapter activities. The FFA Sponsor works collaboratively with students, staff, parents, community partners, and agricultural organizations to support a high-quality agricultural education program aligned with state and national FFA standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Chapter Leadership and Management Serve as the official advisor for the school's FFA chapter. Organize and supervise chapter meetings, officer meetings, and committees. Assist students in planning and conducting FFA activities, events, and community service projects. Maintain chapter records, membership rosters, financial records, and reports. Ensure compliance with school policies and state/national FFA requirements. Student Leadership Development Encourage student participation in leadership conferences, conventions, workshops, and competitions. Prepare students for Career Development Events (CDEs), Leadership Development Events (LDEs), and other contests. Mentor chapter officers and student leaders in communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Promote citizenship, professionalism, and ethical behavior. Agricultural Education Support Support and integrate FFA activities into the agricultural education curriculum. Assist students with the development and supervision of Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs. Help students explore careers in agriculture, agribusiness, environmental science, mechanics, and related fields. Maintain current knowledge of agricultural industry trends and educational practices. Community and Public Relations Build partnerships with local businesses, agricultural organizations, alumni, and community members. Coordinate fundraising activities to support chapter operations and student participation. Promote the FFA chapter through school communications, social media, public presentations, and community events. Represent the school and chapter at district, state, and national functions. Supervision and Safety Supervise students during meetings, travel, competitions, conventions, and activities. Ensure student safety and appropriate conduct during all school-sponsored events. Follow school corporation policies regarding transportation, finances, and extracurricular activities. Qualifications Valid Indiana teaching license preferred, particularly in Agricultural Education or a related field. Knowledge of agricultural education programs and the FFA organization. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as needed. Experience working with high school students preferred. Preferred Skills Event coordination and program management Public speaking and leadership development Budgeting and fundraising Community engagement and partnership building Knowledge of CDE/LDE competitions and SAE programs Physical Requirements Ability to supervise indoor and outdoor activities Ability to travel and attend overnight events when necessary Ability to lift and move materials related to agricultural or chapter activities Terms of Employment The position may be attached to a teaching assignment or an extracurricular stipend. Length of contract and compensation are determined by the school corporation and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated annually by the building principal and/or the CTE administrator in accordance with the school corporation's policies and procedures.
