The position is responsible for leading the Foundation's efforts in growing both the major and planned gift programs through identification, stewardship, and solicitation of donors helping them achieve their charitable giving goals. This position requires the knowledge of planned giving tools and the ability to articulate charitable options available with prospective donors. The Gift Planning Officer manages a program which includes but is not limited to Bequests, Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Trusts, and Charitable Lead Trusts. This position is responsible for growing and strengthening the Foundation's legacy society. The Gift Planning Officer develops and maintains relationships with professional advisors including estate planners, attorneys, financial advisors, accountants, and other intermediaries. This individual coordinates workshops and provides resources designed to educate professional advisors about how the Foundation can assist them in meeting their clients' charitable giving goals. This individual must be able to interact with a wide variety of professionals and donors. The ideal candidate will have excellent listening, interpersonal, and relationship building skills. A candidate with curiosity about people and their charitable giving goals, and the ability to discern which charitable giving vehicles would help donors achieve their goals would be a good match for this position. An organized, ethical, trustworthy professional with the initiative and interest to be knowledgeable and stay current in the field of charitable giving is expected. Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills are required as this position also serves in an integral role with special outside funding initiatives. Ability to serve as an organization representative in local civic clubs and attend events to connect with community members, including after-hours events, is part of this position. Preference for a candidate with strong connections in Harrison County, Indiana. A bachelor's degree is required and at least 5 years of experience in a professional position with responsibility for fundraising and donor stewardship. Experience and demonstrated success in planned gifts including trusts, life estates, and charitable gift annuities. Experience working with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tracking software and ability to maximize its use for development. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) or Certified Fund Raising Manager (CFRM), or other related certifications preferred. Willingness to take coursework and gain certification. This is a full-time in-person position with health insurance, life insurance, and retirement benefits offered.
