Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship. Job Summary The Assistant Director (AD) works in partnership with the Director to develop, coordinate, and implement all aspects of the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) programming, with primary responsibility for overseeing the Citizen Scholars distinction program and Get Connected, the University's online platform for volunteer tracking. The AD supports the Director in administrative responsibilities related to service-learning classes and facilitates campus-community engagement through participation in outreach events, publicity efforts, and collaborative activities with other units within the University. The AD is expected to gain knowledge of community agencies that can serve as potential placement sites for students' community-based learning and volunteerism. The AD also has the leadership skills, knowledge, and capacity to serve as the Director's stand-in as needed. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Maintains regular interaction and develops working relationships outside the University including community volunteer agencies, governmental offices, United Way, and public agencies.
Manages the Get Connected database, including creating new volunteer opportunities, importing and updating records, managing service hour approval/reporting, and addressing user inquiries.
Oversees the Citizen Scholars program by advising student participants, coordinating recruitment efforts, maintaining records, and developing strategic communications that support the program's goals.
Assists with recognition efforts, including annual awards ceremony and end-of-semester activities.
Cultivates, facilitates and promotes community engagement opportunities for the USM community. Advises students and staff on volunteer placement.
Maintains data and reporting regarding university involvement in service, including volunteers, faculty, and community partners who are registered through CCE.
Performs other duties when assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, social work, or a related field. Two (2) years of experience with collegiate service-learning and/or volunteerism, which may include experience gained as a college student or as a nonprofit collaborator. Strong attention to detail, customer service skills, and commitment to producing high-quality work
Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong technical and analytical skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals
Strong organizational and time management skills
Resourceful and committed to providing a positive experience for others
Knowledge of public relations
Working knowledge of service-learning and volunteerism at the collegiate level, including awareness of national trends
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with others Preferred Qualifications
