JOB SUMMARY
Community Engagement Coordinators (CECs) serve as both Peer Advisors and leaders in shaping the Center for Academic Success' (CAS) student engagement and digital presence. In addition to mentoring and supporting first-year students in the University Life course, CECs partner with the administrative team to design and implement strategies that strengthen first-year connection, belonging, and engagement across campus.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner with the administrative team through biweekly meetings to guide project direction, collaborate with campus partners, and support first-year engagement and retention goals by hosting at least three events throughout the academic year.
  • Develop and manage two monthly calendars: (1) a social media content calendar and (2) a first-year engagement calendar outlining events, outreach efforts, and key campus initiatives.
  • Create and publish consistent, student-centered content across all active social media platforms, including event promotions, reminders, student highlights, and community storytelling.
  • Serve as a bridge between the administrative team and Peer Advisors by gathering input, elevating student perspectives, and translating ideas into engaging campaigns.
  • Lead weekly meetings with Peer Advisors supporting social media initiatives to ensure content reflects diverse student experiences and fosters an inclusive campus environment. Peer Advisor Responsibilities -
  • Support classroom instruction in 1-2 ULife or SKIL courses by actively engaging students and assisting the instructor with learning activities
  • Attend a weekly 30-minute meeting (minimum) with your class instructor to stay aligned on course goals
  • Share important announcements and reminders with ULife or SKIL students to keep them informed
  • Support first-year student engagement in campus life throughout the fall and spring semesters by fostering connections and encouraging involvement through activities like events, study sessions, and regular check-ins
  • Participate in monthly PA buddy check-ins and team meetings to build supportive relationships and share peer advising experiences
  • Participate in scheduled performance evaluations to track progress and identify areas for improvement
  • Support Admissions and Career events like tours, info sessions, and Open House. Required to work two events per semester, including one Open House. Some may be on evenings/weekends
  • Hold a minimum of two weekly office hours at an assigned front desk, demonstrating professionalism while providing peer support and assisting with general office tasks
  • Submit activity logs and timesheets on time every two weeks to ensure accurate tracking of hours and fulfillment of job responsibilities
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Successfully contributed to the CAS Social Media Team for one full semester and was selected to hire.
  • Will have completed at least 30 credits by May 15, 2026.
  • Will be registered for at least 12 credits for Fall 2026, unless otherwise approved.
  • Will maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher, with no incomplete grades.
  • Is in good judicial standing with the University and have no active or unresolved conduct issues on my record.
