Job Description

Communications Director - Julie Won for Congress (NY-07) Julie Won is a New York City Council Member running for Congress in New York's 7th Congressional District. The Democratic primary is June 23, 2026.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Communications Director will report to the Campaign Manager and work closely with senior campaign leadership to set strategic communications goals, raise the candidate's public profile, and ensure message continuity across all platforms. This is a full-time, in-person role running through the June 23rd primary.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement an aggressive communications strategy across press, digital, and social platforms Lead and manage the communications team Build and maintain relationships with reporters, editorial boards, and allied media partners Draft and distribute press releases, statements, media advisories, and talking points Oversee and grow the campaign's social media program, with a focus on engagement and follower growth Coordinate rapid response and prepare the candidate for media appearances Facilitate press conferences and earned media events Compile press briefings for the candidate and senior staff Work with local stakeholders to develop and distribute a coordinated message
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience as a Communications Director, ideally in a campaign or government context Established relationships with NYC political press Demonstrated ability to manage a communications team and drive strategy Strong writer with the ability to produce materials quickly under deadline Deep familiarity with the NYC political landscape and local media environment Available to start immediately and commit through June 23, 2026 HOW
