- Full-time Job Summary United Way of Northern New York (UWNNY) is seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to lead the storytelling, communications, and community engagement efforts of United Way of Northern New York.
This role is responsible for bringing UWNNY's work to life, sharing stories of impact, strengthening relationships, and connecting people to opportunities to give, volunteer, and get involved. Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and a small, collaborative team, this position blends marketing, event leadership, and day-to-day coordination. The Marketing & Communications Manager develops and manages content across multiple platforms, ensures consistent and compelling messaging, and serves as the lead on planning and promoting key events and initiatives. This is a hands-on role in a small team environment for someone who enjoys both creative work and execution, and who can move seamlessly from writing and content creation to coordinating logistics and supporting partners. Responsibilities Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies that support UWNNY's mission and initiatives Create and manage content across platforms, including social media, website, email, and print materials Maintain a consistent and compelling brand voice and visual identity Manage and maintain a marketing calendar aligned with campaigns, events, and organizational priorities Make recommendations for and perform updates to the website (WordPress/YOOtheme), including content, layout, and graphics Serve as lead on the planning, coordination, and promotion of UWNNY events and fundraising initiatives Coordinate logistics, vendors, sponsorship outreach, and communications Support volunteer engagement and community participation in UWNNY initiatives Assist with the coordination and promotion of trainings, workshops, and community meetings Capture and share stories that highlight the impact of UWNNY and its partner network Coordinate photos, interviews, and content that reflect community outcomes and experiences Support communication efforts related to community impact, grant-funded programs, and partnerships Provide support for development activities, including the annual campaign and donor communications Assist with data entry, reporting, and basic CRM functions Support general office operations, including responding to inquiries, preparing mailings, and coordinating supplies Skills Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Creative, resourceful, and comfortable working independently in a small team environment Experience with social media platforms, Canva (or similar design tools), and MS Office Ability to collaborate with community partners and build positive relationships Experience with event planning or coordination preferred Familiarity with website updates (WordPress or similar) a plus
