The Wireless Radio Communications (WRC) unit supports a radio communications pool with over 5,000 pieces of equipment decentralized across 12 districts (with multiple units). The WRC program supports three Fire Protection Associations (FPA) cooperators (Coos FPA, Douglas FPA, and Walker Range FPA) and maintains interagency agreements with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (ORPD) and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW). As the Radio Communications Manager, you will support the agency's statewide wireless radio communications unit within the Facilities Capital Management Program. This position is responsible for providing direction, guidance, planning, operational management, and customer service.Duties Include:
Directly manage the wireless radio communications unit within the Facilities Capital Management Program. Lead collaboration with other state agencies on joint radio communication projects. Responsible for oversight of statewide engineering, operational projects and providing guidance to CSA's, who are responsible for engineering support to field operations. Responsible for corresponding with RSU's to assure compliance with established policies, objectives, program priorities, applicable laws, rules, and regulations of the program. Direct the seasonal readiness of the Incident Management Team (IMT) communications trailers stored at Protection Fire Cache. Collaborate with CSA's, RSU coordinators, field techs, district staff, and other external partners on performance, equipment needs, and problem solving to assure compliance and meet customer satisfaction. Maintaining Federal Communication Commission (FCC) compliance and coordination. Manage personnel support from Salem to field units when required and as requested. Plan, assign, and review work of representative staff; adjust work assignments, set priorities and schedules to maintain adequate staffing levels and respond to fluctuating workloads. Click here. The position may be eligible for a hybrid/remote work schedule with the ability to report to Salem when business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities. Travel to district offices will also be required.Minimum Qualifications:
Six years of Information Technology & Wireless Communications or closely related experience that includes supervision, management, or progressively related experience, OR Three years of closely related IT & Wireless Communications experience and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related program.Note:
