Job Description

Job Posting Title Manager of Communications Job Description Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States for NCCPA as NCCPA will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas. As the Manager of Communicatio ns, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communication plans to support NCCPA's and the supporting organizations' internal and external stakeholders. This role manages a team of communications staff to effectively implement, monitor, and evaluate communications projects while ensuring accurate and timely communication of information to physician assistants (PAs) and other stakeholders.

Senior Director of Communication and PA Relations Who We Are National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is the only certifying organization for physician assistants in the United States. Established as a not-for-profit organization in 1974, we are dedicated to assuring the public that board certified PAs meet established standards of clinical knowledge and cognitive skills upon entry into practice and throughout their careers. All U.S. states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories have decided to rely on NCCPA certification as one of the criteria for licensure or regulation of PAs.
Location:
NCCPA is a hybrid work environment with our headquarters located in Johns Creek, Georgia. NCCPA has determined that the telecommuting status of this position is hybrid, which means that employees in hybrid positions are allowed to split their work hours between working remotely and working onsite at the NCCPA headquarters. The duties of this position require that the candidate report on-site to the Johns Creek headquarters, at minimum, on a weekly basis and live within the commutable distance. NCCPA has defined commutable distance as within the State of Georgia and within 85 miles of ground transportation, one-way between an employee's primary residence and the NCCPA headquarters in Johns Creek, Georgia. You Will… Develop and execute strategic communication plans that support NCCPA's mission, organizational goals, and supporting organizations. Partner closely with the Senior Director of Communications and PA Relations to advance NCCPA's culture, brand, marketing initiatives, and communication strategies. Assist in developing and managing the annual communications budget to support departmental and organizational objectives. Track, analyze, and report communication and marketing metrics to evaluate effectiveness and benchmark performance. Serve as the project manager for Communications Department initiatives, including presentations, exhibits, research highlights, newsletters, speaking scripts, websites, social media, and special projects. Oversee the development and production of digital, video, print, and promotional materials from concept to completion. Coordinate staff participation in conferences, events, and organizational initiatives while ensuring consistent and impactful messaging. Manage and help develop communication content that supports a targeted, cohesive, and engaging brand voice. Build and maintain collaborative partnerships across internal departments to support organizational research and strategic goals. Serve as the primary contact and organizer for major conferences, meetings, and events. Supervise, mentor, and support Communications team staff by assigning work, fostering professional development, managing performance, and promoting collaboration and productivity. Hard Skills You Will Have A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. Five to seven years of progressive communications, marketing, or public relations experience. Minimum of three years in project and/or program management. Three or more years of leadership experience directly managing staff. Proven success managing multiple priorities and cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated experience producing and managing digital, video, print, publication, and research-related communications. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience developing, analyzing, and reporting communication performance metrics. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, and web content management systems. Experience using project management software and tools to track deliverables and timelines. Soft Skills You Will Have Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. Strong leadership and team development skills with the ability to motivate and mentor others. Strategic mindset with strong attention to detail and brand consistency. Ability to adapt to shifting priorities while remaining solution-oriented and collaborative. Confidence managing multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholder relationships simultaneously. Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences and teams. A proactive, creative, and growth-oriented mindset with a passion for continuous improvement. Extra Skills You Can Bring Along Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, certification, or professional association communications. Familiarity with scientific publications and medical education material development. Experience supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives through communications strategies and programs. Experience planning and coordinating conferences, events, or executive-level presentations. Familiarity with brand management and integrated marketing campaigns.
