Job Description

Social Media Manager The Woodlands, TX 77380 Full-time Full-time The Woodlands Methodist Church is seeking a Social Media Manager to execute and manage day-to-day content across all social media platforms. This role focuses on creating, editing, and publishing engaging digital content that extends the impact of Sunday services and churchwide initiatives throughout the week. Working under the direction of the Content & Marketing Director, this role translates ministry moments into compelling short-form video, photography, and social content that connects with audiences across platforms. Role Purpose This role exists to: Execute the church's social media content strategy Create and publish platform-native content across social channels Produce sermon clips and short-form video content Capture and share real-time content, especially on Sundays Drive consistent engagement and growth across social platforms Support the ongoing growth and effectiveness of the church's social media presence Key Responsibilities Content Creation and Publishing Create, edit, and publish high-quality social content, including short-form video, photography, written posts, and minimal graphic design assets Adapt content for platform-specific best practices to maximize engagement and reach Maintain and execute a consistent content calendar for timely posting across platforms Produce and publish platform-native content across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, and emerging social platforms Sermon Clips and Content Execution Identify key moments from sermons and produce short-form video content Edit and publish sermon clips on a rapid turnaround (same-day or next-day delivery) Ensure all content is optimized for mobile-first viewing and platform best practices Collaborate with the Video Production team to maintain visual consistency and content quality Sunday and Real-Time Content Capture Be present on Sundays to capture and publish real-time content from services, worship, and community moments Capture high-quality photo and video content in live environments Support real-time storytelling through timely social posting and updates Identify emotionally compelling and engaging moments that translate effectively to social platforms Collaboration and Workflow Work closely with the Video Production team to access source footage and align on content needs and timelines Support campaigns around church events, holidays, and ministry initiatives Collaborate with ministry teams to help communicate key messages and stories effectively Adapt quickly to changing priorities and production needs Community Engagement and Analytics Monitor and engage with online community interactions, including comments, messages, and conversations Foster meaningful engagement and encourage interaction with church content Track performance metrics and identify trends and opportunities Recommend content adjustments and platform opportunities based on performance insights Provide performance insights and reporting to the Content & Marketing Director Qualifications 2-4+ years of experience in social media content creation, management, or digital media Strong video editing skills (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent) Experience creating short-form video content for social platforms Strong photography skills for digital use Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and platform best practices Strong storytelling, writing, and communication skills Ability to identify social trends and adapt content for evolving platform behavior Ability to work in a fast-paced, Sunday-driven environment Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva Understanding of analytics tools and performance tracking Familiarity with AI-assisted creative and editing workflows Church or nonprofit experience preferred Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities Collaborative mindset and ability to take direction and feedback Success in This Role Looks Like Consistent, high-quality, and timely social content across platforms Weekly sermon clips delivered quickly and effectively, driving engagement Strong and growing online community interaction Alignment with leadership messaging and creative direction Increased reach, engagement, and audience growth across key platforms Measurable improvement in content performance over time Working Relationship with Content & Marketing Director The Content & Marketing Director establishes overall content strategy, messaging, and priorities The Social Media Manager leads day-to-day social content execution across platforms, including content creation, publishing, engagement, and real-time coverage The Social Media Manager provides recommendations on content performance, platform trends, storytelling opportunities, and social best practices Final approval on major initiatives and campaigns rests with the Content & Marketing Director The Social Media Manager maintains responsibility for daily publishing workflows, platform execution, and content optimization in collaboration with the creative team
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift and operate production equipment (~50 lbs) Ability to stand and move throughout live production environments

Standard work schedule is 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. Some weekends, evenings, and extended hours are required during Christmas, Easter, and special events. Occasional travel between campuses and off-site events may be required
