Summary/Objective:
The Director of Impact and Engagement provides strategic leadership for the organization's Community Impact and Community Engagement efforts, serving as the primary liaison to community partners, stakeholders, and collaborative organizations. This position oversees grant administration, compliance, stewardship, and committee coordination; manages partner and stakeholder relationships; facilitates community impact initiatives; and fosters meaningful community participation and cross-sector collaboration. Through the development and stewardship of strategic partnerships, the Director advances the child well-being initiatives of the United Way of Waco-McLennan County and helps drive measurable, sustainable community outcomes. Required education, licenses, certification, and experience: 1.Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred); update as appropriate] 2. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Community Engagement 1. Cultivates relationships, develops innovative partnerships, and creates alliances and networks to engage the broader community in the work of United Way. 2. Reviews existing internal/external practices to identify opportunities to maximize organizational engagement within area communities. 3. Identifies opportunities to lead and participate in community organizations, committees, and councils that will lead to the realization of United Way's mission, vision, and Community Engagement goals. 4. Guides community efforts to develop and implement innovative activities to address gaps in services related to child well-being and community impact. 5. Provides information sharing and administrative support to various constituent groups with a focus on (but not limited to) the United Way Board of Directors, Impact & Engagement Committee, Community Investment Councils, as well as local collaboratives, coalitions, and working groups. 6. Organizes and promotes community dialogue with community leaders, residents, and other stakeholders regarding issues related to child well-being and overall community impact. 7. Seeks regular opportunities to stay informed on promising practices in authentic and well-intentioned community engagement efforts. Community Impact 1. Provides support for organization/grantee relationship development as it relates to programs specifically aligned with child well-being strategies and the impact framework overall. 2. Support Department staff in the ongoing development of work that prioritizes impact-driven objectives that are achievable by partner and grantee organizations. 3. Collaborates with Department staff, ensures the effective and accurate collection of programmatic data to appropriately reflect the impact of funded programs. 4. Creates and facilitates training and presentations at various levels throughout the organization and within community as needed to communicate the impact of child well-being strategies. 5. Facilitates collaboration between community programs, research and promotes best practices across initiatives, and monitors progress to the achievement of measurable community outcomes across child well-being strategies. 6. Reports Departmental and community outcomes to appropriate audiences to communicate the impact of the work. 7. Identifies areas for continuous improvement internally, and in external partnerships, then devise a plan for suitable capacity building efforts to target identified needs. 8. Seeks regular opportunities to stay current on national, state, and local matters related to child well-being and community impact including programmatic trends, promising practices, and public policy. Physical and Mental Demands The Director of Impact and Engagement performs work primarily in a professional office environment and must be able to function effectively in a moderate to fast-paced work setting. The position requires the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, access and navigate all areas of the work environment, and frequently use hands, wrists, and fingers for computer operation, document preparation, data entry, and other office-related tasks. The Director of Impact and Engagement must be able to physically bend, push, pull, stretch, and move throughout the workplace as needed. The position also requires the ability to lift and carry materials, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Regular attendance is essential, and the ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with occasional extended hours, evening meetings, or special events, is required. The Director of Impact and Engagement must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with nonprofit organizations, grant recipients, grant review committees, United Way staff, volunteers, board and committee members, community leaders, funders, and strategic partners. The position requires frequent participation in meetings, presentations, site visits, collaborative discussions, and community engagement activities. Mental demands include the ability to analyze and interpret complex information, evaluate grant applications and program outcomes, manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, maintain attention to detail, exercise sound judgment, and handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. The Director of Impact and Engagement must be able to adapt to changing priorities, resolve problems effectively, facilitate productive discussions among diverse stakeholders, and maintain professionalism and composure in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
