Job Description
Mecklenburg County Emergency Communications Center The Mecklenburg County Emergency Communications Center is seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Public Safety Communications Officers . This vital position plays a key role in keeping our community safe by receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls for law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS).
Starting Salary:
$54,500+ (commensurate with experience)Benefits:

As a Communications Officer, you will serve as the lifeline between the public and emergency responders. You'll need to communicate clearly and effectively over the phone and radio and actively listen to understand each situation and remain calm and professional under pressure. Attention to detail is essential, as you'll accurately enter information into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and relay important updates to field units.Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required Prior experience in telecommunications or public safety (police, fire, or rescue) preferred Excellent communication and customer service skills Valid driver's license required Bilingual candidates preferred, but not requiredPre-Employment Requirements:
Applicants selected for consideration must successfully complete a drug screening, background check, fingerprinting, typing test, eye and hearing exams, and a written examination. Applicants must have no felony convictions and no Class I or II misdemeanors involving moral turpitude (lying, cheating, stealing) or gross misconduct (crimes against persons or involving controlled substances).Work Schedule:
This position requires 12-hour permanent shifts and may include weekends and holidays. Shift assignments will be determined after training. Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team and be comfortable sitting for extended periods. How toApply:
