Job Description

Business Development & Community Relations TFC Recycling (Hampton Roads) Base $60,000$65,000 The Business Development & Community Relations role is a salaried, exempt, revenuegenerating position responsible for driving new business growth while strengthening TFC Recyclings presence and relationships within the communities we serve. This role blends traditional business development with civic engagement, municipal relations, and brand advocacy to maximize recycling volumes, expand market share, and promote TFC as a trusted community and environmental partner. Solid understanding of recyclable material commodities including paper, plastics, aluminum, steel, and glass Working knowledge of municipal, commercial, and industrial recycling markets Familiarity with Hampton Roads and RVA municipalities and civic stakeholders Understanding of logistics, pricing structures, and profitable sourcing of recyclable materials Knowledge of community engagement strategies and brand representation Use of Social Media to maintain a positive brand experience across multiple platforms Minimum of three (3) years of B2B sales or business development experience with a proven track record Experience working with municipalities, commercial customers, or community organizations preferred Prior experience in recycling, waste, or environmental services strongly preferred None required High school diploma or equivalent required Bachelors degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field preferred Strong business development, negotiation, and relationshipbuilding skills Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to present confidently to civic groups, municipalities, and business partners Ability to operate independently with a high level of accountability Strong organizational and timemanagement skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with CRM and proprietary industry software preferred Ability to represent the company professionally at public and community events Business Development Identify, pursue, and secure new commercial and municipal business opportunities Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to support retention and growth Collaborate with internal teams to develop pricing, service proposals, and contract documentation Track and report sales activity, pipeline progress, and revenue outcomes Community & Civic Engagement Represent TFC Recycling at community meetings, civic organizations, trade shows, parades, festivals, and sponsored events Lead and coordinate tours of TFC processing facilities for civic groups, schools, municipalities, commercial customers, and other partners Schedule and deliver presentations to schools, civic groups, municipalities, clubs, and other community organizations Act as a brand ambassador, promoting TFCs mission, values, and environmental impact Participate in civic and professional organizations relevant to recycling and sustainability Communications & Brand Support Develop content and collaborate with leadership and internal stakeholders to create articles for the company newsletter Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to assemble and distribute company newsletters to targeted audiences Support and manage community-facing communications, including social media engagement and responses, in alignment with company branding and messaging Promote company events, initiatives, and news across approved social media platforms Collaboration & Special Events Partner with Operations and Marketing to support pricing, logistics, and service deliverables for special events and community initiatives Support company-sponsored events, outreach efforts, and public engagements, which may require evenings and weekends Other Duties Perform other duties as assigned or as business needs require Ability to travel frequently and work in varied environments, including outdoor conditions Ability to move objects up to 2050 pounds occasionally Ability to sit, stand, and drive for extended periods Offered compensation: $60,000/yr - $65,000/yr Experience and License Requirements Experience working with municipalities, commercial customers, or community organizations preferred Minimum of three (3) years of B2B sales or business development experience with a proven track rec Prior experience in recycling, waste, or environmental services strongly preferred General Sales
