  • Job Description Wilson's Residential Homes is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Part-Time Community Coaches / Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide one-on-one community-based support services to individuals with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (DD/ID) through DBHDS Waiver programs.
This position focuses on community coaching, skill-building, and community engagement and does not involve residential group home care. Community Coaches support individuals in developing independence, social skills, communication, self-advocacy, and daily living skills while promoting person-centered practices, dignity, inclusion, and meaningful participation within the community. Services are provided in accordance with DBHDS regulations, DMAS requirements, Individual Support Plans (ISPs), and agency policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is patient, professional, reliable, and able to work independently in community settings while maintaining safety, professionalism, and accurate documentation. Community Coaches may accompany individuals to recreational activities, volunteer opportunities, appointments, educational activities, vacations, and overnight trips as approved by the agency and support team.
  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Community Coaching & Individual Support
  • Provide one-on-one community-based support services according to each individual's ISP, goals, and support needs.
  • Assist individuals with developing life skills, independence, communication, socialization, decision-making, and community navigation skills.
  • Encourage self-advocacy, personal growth, and meaningful participation in community activities.
  • Support individuals during recreational outings, volunteer opportunities, appointments, educational activities, and social events.
  • Promote person-centered practices while respecting individual rights, dignity, preferences, and confidentiality.
  • Provide behavioral support and redirection as needed while following approved support plans.
  • 2. Transportation & Community Engagement
  • Staff will be required to use their own personal vehicle to transport and support individuals during approved community activities, appointments, outings, and scheduled services as needed.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance are required at all times.
  • Mileage reimbursement will be provided for approved community outings or travel exceeding 30 miles in accordance with agency policy.
  • All trips, travel, and mileage reimbursements must be pre-approved by the agency prior to travel.
  • Mileage reimbursement is processed monthly based on submitted and approved mileage documentation.
  • May be required to accompany individuals on overnight trips, vacations, or extended community outings as approved by the agency.
  • Ensure community activities remain within approved budgets and schedules.
  • Follow all agency transportation and safety protocols.
  • 3. Documentation & Compliance
  • Accurately complete daily documentation, progress notes, mileage logs, and service records in accordance with DBHDS, DMAS, Medicaid Waiver, and agency standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times.
  • Report incidents, concerns, behavioral changes, or safety issues promptly to supervisors.
  • Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and compliance updates as assigned.
  • Maintain professionalism and compliance with all DBHDS and agency regulations.
  • Working Conditions
  • Part-time hours based on individual and program needs.
  • Shifts are scheduled based on client needs and may run from
  • 9:00 AM
  • 3:00 PM
  • or •1:00 PM•7:00 PM•.
  • Flexible scheduling may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and community events as required by service delivery.
  • Position requires driving, walking, standing, and active participation in community-based activities.

  • Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in emergency or behavioral situations
  • Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2 years DSP experience required
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Current automobile insurance required
  • Reliable personal vehicle required for transportation duties
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
