Job Description

Social Media & Newsletter FellowThe Parlor Magazine is seeking a Social Media & Newsletter Fellow to help grow and deepen our digital presence across platforms. This is a strategic communications role — not just scheduling — for someone who understands how independent feminist media moves online.

About The ParlorThe Parlor is an independent intersectional feminist publication covering identity, power, land, and community. Our main channels are Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Bluesky, and LinkedIn. Our newsletter runs on MailerLite. We use Buffer for cross-platform scheduling.

What is the Social Media & Newsletter Fellowship?

This is a hands-on communications role for someone who can write, think strategically about audience growth, and do the unglamorous work of organic community building. You will work directly with the founding editor to manage our social presence, write and send our newsletter, and build reach through genuine engagement rather than algorithm-chasing.

Fellows will:

Write and schedule social media content across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Bluesky, and LinkedIn using BufferWrite and send the MailerLite newsletterConduct organic community engagement on Facebook and Reddit to build reach and deepen audience relationshipsResearch relevant communities, conversations, and opportunities for The Parlor's content to reach new readersContribute to developing The Parlor's social voice and content strategyParticipate in monthly newsroom sessions and community callsWhat we're looking for:

Strong copywriting ability — you need to be able to write in The Parlor's voiceFamiliarity with Buffer, MailerLite, or equivalent toolsUnderstanding of organic growth and community engagement strategiesSomeone who reads independent and feminist media and understands how it circulatesAbility to work independently and manage a consistent publishing cadenceRecently graduated or equivalent experience strongly preferredAlignment with intersectional feminist, anticolonial valuesTime commitment: Approximately 15 hours per weekA note on compensation:

This is an unpaid fellowship. We are transparent about this because our politics demand it.
