Job Description

Job Summary The Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) provides community-based recovery support services to individuals experiencing substance use and/or mental health challenges. The PRS uses their lived experience of recovery to provide mentoring, encouragement, and support to individuals seeking to initiate or maintain recovery. Peer Recovery Specialists assist participants in developing recovery goals, accessing community resources, and building healthy support systems. Services are non-clinical and person-centered, focusing on empowerment, hope, and self-direction. Duties Provide one-on-one peer support and recovery coaching Share lived experience to inspire hope and motivation Assist individuals in developing personal recovery plans Support individuals in identifying recovery goals and strategies Connect participants with treatment programs, housing, employment, and social services Promote Self-advocacy Group Facilitation Facilitate peer-led recovery groups or support meetings Encourage peer-to-peer engagement and community building Documentation Document services provided according to DMAS guidelines Maintain accurate and timely records of participant interactions Requirements Lived experience with behavioral health or substance use recovery, with the ability to serve as a credible peer mentor Registered Peer Recovery Specialist (RPRS) or equivalent state certification. High school diploma or equivalent (GED) Empathy and active listening Strong communication and relationship-building skills Ability to maintain professional boundaries Cultural competence and sensitivity Organizational and documentation skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Work Environment Peer Recovery Specialists may work in: Participant homes (when appropriate) Community agencies Outreach settings Work may involve evening or weekend hours depending on participant needs.
Pay:
$16.00 - $25.00 per hour
