Job Description
The Office of Community Safety (OCS) in Prince William County is dedicated to advancing a safe, resilient, and connected community through prevention, coordination, and strategic partnerships. OCS leads the coordination and convening of County agencies, community organizations, and residents to reduce risk, strengthen service alignment, and support recovery for individuals, families, and neighborhoods impacted by violence and trauma. The office supports system and ecosystem development across multiple priority areas, including gang/group violence response, domestic and intimate partner violence, human trafficking, sexual assault, and harm reduction. Through data-informed strategies and community-based engagement, OCS works to improve service access, enhance collaboration, and build long-term community resilience. The Office of Community Safety Prince is seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Strategy and Resilience Lead to support the Office of Community Safety (OCS). This role is responsible for translating data into action through targeted campaigns, messaging, and public-facing materials that strengthen community safety, preparedness, and resilience. The ideal candidate brings experience in behavioral strategy, public messaging, and campaign execution, with the ability to operate in fast-paced, real-world environments and produce clear, actionable communications.
About This Role:
The Behavioral Strategy and Resilience Lead is responsible for designing and implementing strategies and campaigns that influence community behavior and support participation in OCS initiatives. This role works across prevention, risk, response, and recovery efforts and focuses on building clear, effective communications, messaging and materials that are accessible and usable by the public. The position combines strategic thinking and hands-on execution, including campaign development, messaging, website management, and content production.Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of seven (7) years working with public campaigns and behavioral communications. Related Experience Strong writing and editing skills Experience translating data into messaging or campaigns Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentPreferences:
Experience in behavioral communications, risk communication, or public health campaigns Experience working in emergency management, resilience, or humanitarian contexts Experience developing and executing campaigns that influence behavior Experience managing website content (CMS platforms) Experience developing outreach materials (flyers, toolkits, etc.) Portfolio of writing, campaigns, or communications workSpecial Requirements:
A valid driver's license Candidates must pass criminal history background checks.Work Schedule:
Standard workday, 9-5pm with occasional evenings and weekends.Hiring Salary Range:
