Job Description
The Office of Community Safety (OCS) in Prince William County is dedicated to advancing a safe, resilient, and connected community through prevention, coordination, and strategic partnerships. OCS leads the coordination and convening of County agencies, community organizations, and residents to reduce risk, strengthen service alignment, and support recovery for individuals, families, and neighborhoods impacted by violence and trauma. The office supports system and ecosystem development across multiple priority areas, including gang/group violence response, domestic and intimate partner violence, human trafficking, sexual assault, and harm reduction. Through data-informed strategies and community-based engagement, OCS works to improve service access, enhance collaboration, and build long-term community resilience. Prince William County's Office of Community Safety is seeking a dynamic and engaging individual to provide ongoing case-management and program support for at-risk youth and families at the individual, family, and neighborhood levels. This individual will work closely with community partners and government agencies to coordinate programming and connections to foster more connected communities and families. This position is primarily field-based and requires consistent presence in high-priority neighborhoods, including direct engagement with youth, families, and community partners. The role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends, particularly Saturdays, to support community programming.
About This Role:
The Community Navigator plays a critical role in connecting residents to services, strengthening community relationships, and supporting prevention-focused programming. This position works directly with youth and families using a case management approach while also helping to design and implement consistent weekend programming. The role bridges individual support and neighborhood-level impact by combining direct service, community engagement, and coordination with County agencies and community partners.Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED. 5 years of related experience in community-based work, case management, youth services, social services, or a related fieldPreferences:
- Experience working with at-risk youth and families
- Experience in case management or service navigation
- Familiarity with community engagement, outreach, or grassroots programming
- Experience conducting surveys, community assessments, or engagement activities
- Ability to work across diverse communities and build trust with residents Special Requirements (if applicable): Must pass background check prior to employment.
Work Schedule:
Part-time, exempt. Monday - Saturday (varied schedule), afternoons, evenings, and some weekends. Significant Saturday programming expected and weekend events.Hiring Salary Range:
$36.37-50.24/hour This is a grant-funded position for 18 months We also offer great benefits including:- 401a and 457 retirement savings and investment plans
