Full-time, Non-exempt "The Catholic Week," the official publication of the Archdiocese of Mobile, is seeking a full-time Communications Specialist. The staff of "The Catholic Week" supports the evangelization efforts of the Archdiocese of Mobile through a biweekly newspaper, e-newsletter and digital media outreach. The Communications Specialist assists with advertising coordination for "The Catholic Week" while also supporting the archdiocese's social and digital communications efforts through photography, video and multimedia content creation. This is an hourly, nonexempt position with benefits. Essential duties Helps coordinate social and digital media efforts. Organizes and produces "The Catholic Week Digest," the online newsletter of "The Catholic Week." Creates content through photography and videography of diocesan liturgies and events. Shoots and edits photo and video content for digital platforms. Plans and produces multimedia content, including interviews and reflections. Works with current advertisers regarding ad placement and communication. Coordinates advertising scheduling, billing and invoicing. Maintains the subscription database. Works closely with "The Catholic Week" editor on advertising development and newspaper proofreading. Assists in designing advertisements using Adobe Creative Suite programs and Canva, including InDesign and Photoshop. Develops and maintains media kits for current and prospective advertisers. Completes other duties as assigned by the Editor of "The Catholic Week." Qualifications Practicing Catholic who is passionate about the Faith and faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Successful completion of Safe Environment Training and a background check. Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Canva. Video editing experience preferred. Strong communication, organizational and copyediting skills. Must have a reliable vehicle and meet archdiocesan insurance requirements.
