THE CENTRAL VALLEY AIR QUALITY
(CVAQ)COALITION
The CVAQ Coalition is a diverse, dynamic partnership of environmental justice and public health organizations working collaboratively to restore clean air to the San Joaquin Valley, with prioritization for communities of color and low income communities that are disproportionately impacted. CVAQ's mission is to work toward awareness, act as a watchdog, advocate for policy, and mobilize communities to restore clean air to the San Joaquin Valley. CVAQ is a project of Social & Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE), a registered public non-profit. More information can be found at www.calcleanair.org .PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Associate level: Draft and coordinate the development of external communications such as outreach and educational materials, press releases, etc. with coalition members and staff. Conduct research in support of strategic goals in assigned areas. Manage social media accounts. Support coalition meetings, activities, and events. Perform administrative duties such as answering the phone, note taking, and scheduling meetings. Develop and maintain knowledge of air pollution problems and solutions, relevant decision making bodies, laws, regulations, and policies; Provide general support as needed. A Coordinator level position includes all of the above, plus: Lead production of content for external communications. Develop research and communications tools in support of key objectives. Co-create and implement a plan for enhancing the coalition's public and online presence. Support member capacity building.DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 2-3
years of relevant work experience for Associate level; 4-5 years of experience for Coordinator level; Strong initiative, well organized, highly accountable; Passionate about the environment and/or environmental justice, and the health of San Joaquin Valley residents; Strong interpersonal skills including poise, tact and diplomacy; Excellent command of the English language, strong public speaking, writing and editing skills; Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, online social media platforms, and online collaborative tools such as Google Drive; Attention to detail in composing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.POSITION DETAILS
To start, this position will be 15-20 hours per week for a 6 month term, with potential for continuation and growth based on capacity. Pay range depends on experience. For an Associate position, the starting pay range is $21-25/hour. For a Coordinator position, the pay range is $26-$30/hour. The primary place of business is virtual, with varied travel within the San Joaquin Valley region and occasionally Sacramento. Reliable transportation required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Employees in this position will be required to work indoors in a standard office environment; travel by motor vehicle outdoors in varying degrees of temperatures; work in indoor and outdoor environments that are outside of the office setting; and come in direct contact with community and government representatives, CVAQ members, staff and the public, when considered safe according to public health guidelines.TO APPLY
