ABOUT US
Lawyers for Good Government (L4GG) coordinates large scale pro bono programs and issue advocacy efforts to ensure that all levels of government - national, state, and local - protect human rights and provide equal justice under the law. We believe not only in the establishment and enforcement of equality under the law, but in the creation of social and economic conditions that lead to true equity. We currently run programs in the following areas: immigration, climate change, racial justice, voting rights, government accountability, and responding to emergent legal needs. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Digital Communications Associate to provide communications support for Lawyers for Good Government (L4GG). The person who succeeds in this role will have a strong background in digital communications, excellent attention to detail, proficiency in graphic design, social media + SMS management, and content creation. This position will support L4GG's general communications efforts across all programs and will report to the Senior Communications Manager. The role includes routine communications tasks and creative content development across multiple channels.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Digital Communications Associate will support L4GG's communications efforts by: Digital Communications Publishing content to MailChimp, including our regular newsletters: the Reproductive Rights Digest, the Trans Digest, and Impact Docket Regularly updating and maintaining the L4GG websites, including press hits, blog posts, and staff pages Generating website analytics reports and communications analytics reports Managing and optimizing automations and workflows for digital communications Supporting database and mailing list management Digital asset management (templates, photos, etc.) Monitoring all L4GG's social platforms and our SMS platform to reply to comments and messages, as well as daily management of L4GG's 100k+ private Facebook Group Content Creation Managing L4GG's social media calendar and producing daily posts for L4GG accounts Creating first drafts of external communications copy Developing Pro Bono content, including Awards content Providing graphic design support across various communications channels Regularly sending texts to L4GG's SMS list Multimedia Producing and editing videos for Pro Bono Awards and other initiatives Creating visual content for social media and other digital channels Event Support Providing marketing support before and after events Serving as backstop for the Events Manager during virtual events
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. We need someone who can work independently with a strong sense of urgency and take initiative to identify and resolve challenges. Must have access to a quiet workspace (home office or other space) with high-speed internet and the ability to take calls and/or video conferences during working hours.
Required qualifications include:
Commitment to our organization's mission 1-3 years of experience in communications, marketing, or related field Proficiency in graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar) Experience with social media management for organizations Experience with email marketing platforms (preferably MailChimp) Experience with website content management systems Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Experience using Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Drive Exceptional technology comfort and competence including willingness to embrace new tools and self-train using provided resources as needed Consistent attention to detail Strong ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and escalate issues as appropriate Interest in L4GG's issue areas Desired qualifications include: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field Experience with video production and editing Experience using Mac computers Experience with any or all of the following digital tools: Asana, Airtable, Zoom Background or experience working on climate, water, or other environmental issues Experience working with or for a nonprofit organization Experience in a legal setting or with legal content
