Job Description

Communications Specialist (Part-Time) About the Organization The Education Foundation of Martin County (EFMC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization comprised of business leaders, community volunteers, and school officials with a shared mission to enrich and enhance educational opportunities and support for all Martin County public school students and teachers. Through innovative programs, strategic partnerships, grants, and community engagement, EFMC works to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed. Position Overview The Communications Specialist supports organizational and programmatic communications for the Education Foundation of Martin County. This individual must be an exceptional communicator, both written and verbal, with a keen eye for detail, creative flair for content development, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative nonprofit environment. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with other EFMC team members to advance the Foundation's mission through clear, compelling storytelling, community engagement, brand awareness, and strategic communications. Responsibilities Communications & Marketing Create and publish engaging content across EFMC's social media platforms, website, and email marketing campaigns. Assist with writing, editing, and distributing press releases, newsletters, media advisories, and other communications. Capture and edit photographs and short videos for use across multiple communications platforms. Maintain and update website content, event information, and digital resources. Coordinate the design, production, and printing of promotional materials, signage, flyers, brochures, and event collateral. Assist with the development of donor communications, sponsorship materials, event invitations, annual reports, and thank-you correspondence. Monitor social media engagement and respond to inquiries as appropriate. Help identify and promote student success stories, program highlights, volunteer engagement, and donor impact opportunities. Assist with media relations and community outreach efforts. Administrative Support Provide backup support for general office operations and administrative functions. Run occasional business-related errands as needed. Provide direct support to the Executive Director and assist with special projects as assigned. Support EFMC events and programs, including occasional evening and weekend activities. Required Skills & Qualifications Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience managing website content and social media platforms. Working knowledge of general office procedures and office equipment. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality. Strong customer service and relationship-building skills. Graphic design experience and/or proficiency with online design tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, or AI-powered design platforms is highly desirable. Photography and basic photo editing experience preferred. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
