Campus, ILLINOIS Summary The Communications and Public Relations Intern support the development and execution of strategic communications that elevate brand awareness and engagement across key audiences. This role contributes to drafting and editing content, supports media relations efforts, and assists with public relations initiatives. The intern collaborates with team members to ensure messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with organizational priorities, while also contributing creative ideas and conducting basic research to inform communications strategies. Strong writing and organizational skills, attention to detail, and an interest in storytelling, media relations, and digital communications are essential. This position offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced communications environment and the opportunity to build a professional portfolio. Analyze problems and propose practical solutions. Evaluate different options before recommending a course of action. Learn new software or digital platforms as needed for your role. Essential Functions Contribute to drafting and editing content, support media relations efforts, and assist with public relations initiatives. Strong writing and organizational skills, attention to detail, and an interest in storytelling, media relations, and digital communications are essential. Manage and track projects in a digital project management system Route content writing for review and approvals through appropriate channels Assist and support additional integrated communication and marketing efforts as needed Minimum Qualifications Experience drafting and editing content Strong work ethic and attention to detail Previous experience with higher education marketing and writing Ability to track and keep many projects moving simultaneously Thrives in a deadline-driven environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Positive attitude and professional demeanor Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills Demonstrate the ability to think critically while making decisions Ability to work collaboratively with others in the community Bowling Green State University is an equal opportunity employer.
