We leverage media and culturally relevant strategies to connect people least likely to be engaged to civic infrastructures. Force Detroit is building capacity for community violence interruption (CVI) in Detroit. Detroiters have a 1 in 51 chance of being a victim of murder, rape, armed robbery, or aggravated assault, making it one of the most violent cities in America. Community violence intervention has the ability to change this. CVI uses evidence-based strategies to reduce violence through customized community-designed solutions. These activities engage people and groups in disrupting violence and retaliation. One of the critical functions of CVI is linking individuals to local assets and services that save lives, confront trauma, offer opportunities, and improve the socio-economic conditions that foster violence. Job Summary execution. This role manages the organization's social media ecosystem in-house, including content planning, production, posting cadence, analytics tracking, and visual brand consistency. The Associate supports fundraising efforts through aligned messaging but primarily owns digital communications execution.
Key Responsibilities Social Media Management:
Develop and maintain monthly editorial calendar Create quarterly content plans aligned with organizational priorities Manage posting schedule across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn (3-4 posts per week per platform) Maintain hashtag strategy and optimize platform profiles Engage with community comments and messagesContent Creation & Production:
Shoot and edit on-site video and photo documentation of events Produce 2-3 video reels per month minimum Design graphics and marketing collateral using Canva Design up to 2 event flyers per month and support annual report layout Maintain organized digital asset libraryAnalytics & Reporting:
Track weekly and monthly engagement metrics Produce quarterly analytics reports (growth, reach, performance trends) Maintain planning systems using Airtable or similar tool Participate in monthly strategy review meetings Development Alignment (Approx. 10%): Support digital fundraising campaigns Provide visual and storytelling assets for grants and donor communications QualificationsRequired 2-4 years experience in social media management or digital marketing Proficiency in Canva, Airtable, and Hootsuite (or comparable tools) Strong video shooting and editing skills Experience tracking analytics and adjusting strategy based on performance data Strong writing and storytelling ability Flexible schedule; evenings and weekends required for event coverage Commitment to racial equity and community-centered work Bachelors Degree in Communications Preferred [Additional qualifications or experience that would be beneficial] [Familiarity with industry-specific tools, regulations, or best practices] Work Environment, Compensation & Benefits M-F 9am- 5pm Some weekends and some travel may be requiredCompensation:
