Job Description

At Winmark, thoughtful communication helps ideas come to life across the organization. We are looking for a Senior Communications Specialist to support internal and franchisee messaging across our resale brands: Once Upon A Child, Platos Closet, Play It Again Sports, Music Go Round, and Style Encore.

This role is focused on clarity, connection, and impact. Youll lead the development and execution of communications that inform, engage, and align our franchise system with business priorities. By partnering closely with marketing, franchise development, leadership teams, and external PR partners, this position supports delivery of communications across channelsactivating strategic initiatives across the system.
What You'll Do:
Lead and oversee communication plans for key programs (marketing, technology, operational, training initiatives), partnering with stakeholders to determine messaging strategy, timing, and channels.

Translate business initiatives into clear, simple, actionable messagingMaintain editorial calendars and manage deadlines of communication materialsExecute internal and franchisee communications across key channels (email, internal platforms, franchisee communities)Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate messagingCreate and manage toolkits, FAQs, and communication assets for consistent rolloutCoordinate with PR agency on materials, timelines, and follow-upsEnsure message consistency, tone, and brand voice across communications
What You Bring:
Bachelors degree in communications, Marketing Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)35 years of experience in communications, PR, or marketing, with demonstrated experience supporting cross-functional or multi-stakeholder initiatives Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to simplify complex ideasHighly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-throughAbility to manage multiple projects and collaborate across teams Experience with email, internal communications platforms, or content developmentInterest in AI tools and emerging marketing technologies, with a willingness to learn and apply them in day-to-day workExposure to PR or agency coordination is a plusExperience in retail, franchise, or multi-location brands preferredWhy Winmark?
