Job Summary We are seeking a motivated individual who is both experienced and a dynamic communicator to fill the role of Communications Strategist at the Minnesota State Lottery. In this position, you will be responsible for developing and executing internal and retailer communications, employee engagement projects, and strategic communications efforts aimed at multichannel target audiences. The incumbent will measure, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of communication efforts and will serve as a strong content creator and project manager, coordinating the production of multimedia materials to effectively tell the Lottery's story and promote its products and programs. This role will support the Director of Public Affairs and Communications in proactive efforts to advance the mission, promote the Lottery, and build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally. Additionally, you will provide leadership on projects undertaken by Communications Specialists 1 and 2 and support strategic communications initiatives for key topics, including winners, beneficiaries, responsible gambling, and external relations. Responsibilities include but not limited to the following: Develop and implement an employee communications plan with the Director of Public Affairs and Communications to educate, enlighten, and engage employees by utilizing a variety of communications channels to promote a positive workplace culture, and support retention and recruitment efforts in collaboration with Human Resources team. Support marketing and sales efforts with engaging communications and exciting events to promote retailer products, programs, and prizes won. Cultivate and share lottery winners and beneficiary stores and blogs through multi-communications channels to targeted audiences. Perform other duties as assigned. This is a temporary full-time position expected to last up to one year, with an end date not to exceed July 31, 2027. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job. Position requires a minimum of three (3) years of Communication experience.
Experience must include:
Program and time management skills to ensure multiple projects meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes. Developing, monitoring, maintaining, and tracking information received through multiple channels using various tools. Writing and editing skills for a variety of communications, including plans, key messages, employee announcements, newsletters, speeches, reports, blogs, news releases, reports, presentations, and more. Developing and executing employee and internal communications strategies. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experience. •Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Public Administration or related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience. Preferred Qualifications An understanding of the operations, administration, structure, and governance of the MN Lottery. Expertise in analyzing and presenting data with spreadsheets, statistics, word processing and graphics software. Team Lead experience. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
