Full Job Description TITLE:
Communications and Community Engagement Specialist
FLSA STATUS
Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Education, Business Administration, Social Work, Counseling, or related field preferred. Three to five years of experience in communications, public relations, community engagement, family engagement, project coordination, marketing, social media, graphic design or related work preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing, editing and proofreading. Must be proficient with technology, including Microsoft Office programs, digital communication platforms, social media tools and basic design or publishing software. Experience with project management, event coordination, public speaking, community outreach and budget tracking is preferred. Must demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, sound judgment, initiative, flexibility and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, families, community partners, district leaders, school leaders, students and members of the public.

JOB GOAL
To support the district's communications, family engagement and community engagement efforts by developing clear, accurate and timely information; strengthening relationships with families, staff and community partners; and assisting with programs, projects and initiatives that support student success and district goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops, writes, edits and proofreads communications for internal and external audiences, including web content, social media content, newsletters, scripts, letters, reports, talking points, presentations, publications and promotional materials. Supports communications, family engagement and community engagement projects aligned with district priorities, including outreach campaigns, events, recognitions, trainings, partnership activities and other department initiatives. Assists with developing and implementing public relations, marketing and engagement strategies that increase awareness of district programs, services, accomplishments and opportunities for involvement. Builds and maintains positive working relationships with staff, families, volunteers, community partners, businesses, faith-based organizations, governmental agencies, higher education institutions and other stakeholders. Provides communication, outreach and engagement support to schools, departments and district leaders to promote consistent messaging and effective stakeholder engagement. Creates, gathers, organizes and verifies content for district platforms and materials, ensuring information is accurate, timely, accessible and aligned with district messaging. Supports social media, graphic design, photography coordination, video scripting, presentation development and other creative projects as assigned. Assists with project coordination by tracking tasks, timelines, deliverables, participation, contacts, data, expenditures and outcomes. Represents the department and district in a professional, courteous and service-oriented manner when interacting with employees, families, partners, media representatives and the public. Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound judgment when handling sensitive information, district matters and stakeholder concerns. Works collaboratively with members of the Communications and Community Engagement Department to support cross-functional projects and provides assistance in areas of greatest need. Demonstrates initiative, creativity, flexibility, strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous improvement. Carries out duties assigned by the Associate Superintendent for Communications and Community Engagement as required to meet district goals and objectives. Performs other related duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned, including occasional work during evenings and weekends. Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing fairness.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders. Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
