The NC Rural Center is seeking an enthusiastic team member who enjoys a mix of content creation, communications support, and day-to-day project coordination. In this role, you will spend your time developing presentation materials, creating engaging short-form videos, maintaining and updating databases, supporting newsletters and social media efforts, and helping keep communications projects moving forward. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who wants hands-on experience building digital content, learning communications strategies, and contributing to meaningful work that supports rural communities across the state.
Job Summary:
The Communications Associate will create and edit video, graphics, slide decks, and other forms of visual communication used primarily for presentations, website, social media, newsletters, and advertisements. The person in this position will also support the Center by helping to manage our Salesforce database.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Create a repository of slides to reflect the history, mission, values, research, advocacy, and programmatic work of the NC Rural Center while following the Center's brand guidelines.

Slides will be used for presentations for training, advocacy, conferences, and other internal and external events. Plan, create and edit shortform videos(usually 3 minutes or less) to be used on social media channels,website,and other outlets. Manage,monitor, and update the organization's Salesforce database as needed. Assist the Senior Director of Communications and Communications Manager with newsletters, social media,website management and other communications duties as needed. Assist with building and maintaining vendor relationships for needs such as graphic design, photography, web development, and brand materials.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent time management and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with rural North Carolina and the mission of the NC Rural Center are highly desired. Excellent ability to collaborate with internal and external partners. Proficiency with video and graphics editing tools such as Adobe Suite and Canva. Ability to design within PowerPoint and Google Slides.
Education and Experience:
Minimum of bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in graphic design, videography,communications, marketing, or public relations preferrably in a nonprofit environment. At minimum 3 years experience in graphic design and visual communications. Proven experience in creating and editing digital communications, including video and design, using professional grade equipment. Salesforc eexperience preferred. WordPress experience preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Some in-state travel required. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
