Job Description

Position Summary As an Athletics Communication team member, participate in planning, developing, and implementing a comprehensive Athletics Communications program and services. Participate in developing the strategy for promoting the Ithaca College student-athlete experience to prospective students, alumni, and the Ithaca College community. Serve as the primary liaison to media contacts for select sports. Promote competitions, coaches, athletes, and alumni through written stories, publications, and various media. Provide story ideas and content for marketing communications audiences. Participate in developing long-range projects and strategic planning efforts. Plan, record, and edit professional quality multimedia productions in support of Athletic Communications to include coordinating and performing technical duties in production of videos, broadcasts, podcasts and streaming. Produce, shoot, and edit video content packages and manage multiple projects. For assigned sports, ensure promotion and coverage of College athletic events, write and edit press releases, feature stories, and copy for game programs, recruiting publications, and other promotional materials. Prepare and maintain photography, video, records, statistics, and other files pertaining to student-athletes and teams and manage and maintain video and photography equipment inventories. Develop working relationships with media representatives to promote Ithaca College intercollegiate athletics.

Associate Director of Athletic Communications Supervises:
Student videographers, student assistants, and select Creative Media students assigned through the Park School of Communications co-curricular program Core Responsibilities Event Coverage & Game Operations Coordinate with Athletics Communications to ensure coverage of athletic events. Attend events and manage multiple multimedia projects simultaneously, as well as inputting in-game statistics. Provide staffing and coverage of events to include game programs, in-game statistics, media accommodation, game stories and dissemination of information to opposing teams, media outlets and conference and national reporting entities. Work and host conference and NCAA events as necessary. Multimedia Production & Video Operations Assist with managing an extensive video production schedule of live athletic events through both conference and campus web-streaming environments - YouTube, OBS software, Production Truck and Hudl. Assist with production and editing of video packages; interview coaches, student-athletes, staff members, and alumni. This is to include the creation and execution of annual Ithaca College Hall of Fame introduction and highlight videos from home events. Manage and maintain video equipment inventory and stay abreast of emerging technologies and hardware/software developments. Log and store necessary archive video. Sport Oversight & Media Relations Serve as the lead sports contact for multiple sports as assigned by the Associate Director of Athletic Communications. Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships within the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics as well as MARCOM colleagues. Initiate and develop working relationships with media representatives to promote Ithaca College intercollegiate athletics. Publications, Writing & Promotions Project manage recruitment publications and programs. Work with Athletics Communications staff, clients, and Creative Services within MARCOM from initiation through delivery. Work with student designers on projects determined to fit their skillset. Write and edit press releases and copy for other publications such as game programs, recruiting publications, feature stories and promotional materials. Nominate and promote student-athletes for weekly and seasonal athletic and academic awards programs by conferences and national organizations and media outlets. Digital Content & Social Media Provide accurate and timely updates of pertinent web pages within athletics.ithaca.edu Contribute to Athletics Communications department social media goals and strategies for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. Records, Data & Asset Management Accurately prepare and maintain photography, records, statistics and other files pertaining to Bomber student-athletes and teams. Edit and archive photography to include the online galleries. Student Supervision & Development Provide guidance, direction, training, and supervision for student videographers and other student assistants. Help oversee select group of Creative Media students assigned to work with athletic teams through the Park School of Communications co-curricular program. Campus Collaboration & Inclusion Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree Minimum of one year of professional experience in a collegiate athletics communications office, or an equivalent of education and work experience Working knowledge of in-game statistical software applications Professional writing and social media experience Experience in webcast production Knowledge of a broad range of sports Ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment Ability to travel Possession of or ability to obtain a valid NYS driver's license and proof of insurability Knowledge and experience with the technical use of professional grade digital cameras and video cameras and editing software College sports information office experience as an undergraduate or post-graduate will be considered This position is 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Hiring Range:
