SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Specialist Aeromedical Communications will coordinate and facilitate the efficient and timely air and ground transfers to and from entities within the Penn State Health system. The Specialist will maintain communication with pilots and other air medical and EMS transport providers to monitor weather and navigational aids for safe completion of patient transfers. The Specialist will oversee ambulance movement as well as aircraft movement per FAA regulations under Part 135 operations. In addition, the Specialist will coordinate all incoming emergency ambulances and aircraft notifications to appropriate parties within the Hershey Medical Center.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
(S): High School Diploma/GED Three (3) years' experience in emergency dispatch/communications. Three (3) years' experience in EMS or related Field. Flight Communicator Certification - If not certified, must obtain certification within Eighteen (18) months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
(S): Three (3) years' experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook and Excel. Ability to use emergency communications including radios, telephones, paging and notification systems. Ability to react to emergency situations while under pressure in a quick and calm demeanor.
