Full Job Description Job Description:
The Communications & Engagement Specialist is a creative and organized professional responsible for helping F5 Project consistently tell its story across platforms. In this role, you will lead day-to-day communications efforts including social media, storytelling, and key organizational messaging that reflects the impact of F5 Project's work. This is a part-time role focused on building consistency in F5 Project's communications. Priorities center on social media, storytelling, and key communications, with additional projects supported as time allows. As a Communications & Engagement Specialist, you will work closely with program teams, regional staff, and leadership to capture and share meaningful stories. Your work will help increase community awareness, strengthen engagement, and support development and fundraising efforts through clear, authentic communication. This position is ideal for someone who is both creative and grounded—someone who can tell powerful stories while respecting the complexity and dignity of the individuals we serve.
Role Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities (Primary Focus):
  • Create and manage a consistent content calendar across platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Develop and publish engaging, mission-driven content that reflects F5 Project's work
  • Proactively gather stories from program teams, housing, and regional staff
  • Conduct informal interviews and translate real-life impact into written content
  • Ensure all communications are respectful, accurate, and aligned with F5 Project's mission and voice
  • Develop and distribute external newsletters (monthly or as scheduled)
  • Draft organizational updates, announcements, and campaign messaging
  • Support donor communications including letters, mid-year updates, and year-end campaigns
  • Monitor engagement and adjust content approach as needed Supporting Responsibilities (As Needed):
  • Update and maintain website content (not full rebuilds)
  • Support development of marketing materials such as brochures, one-pagers, and program collateral
  • Assist in development of the annual report in partnership with leadership and program teams
  • Support promotion and storytelling for events
  • Contribute to blog development as capacity allows (future opportunity)
Collaboration & Coordination:
  • Work closely with Regional Directors and program staff to identify stories and program updates
  • Partner with Development to align communications with fundraising and donor engagement efforts
  • Coordinate with leadership on key messaging and organizational priorities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to create clear, engaging, and human-centered content
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Passion for F5 Project's mission and commitment to serving individuals from diverse and special populations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing social media platforms and content calendars
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe, or similar design tools
  • Basic website management experience (WordPress or similar)
  • Experience in nonprofit communications, marketing, or community engagement

Pay:
$17.00 - $21.00 per hour
