Job Description

Communications Specialist (Contract) Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.
Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity to serve as the social voice for a major gaming marketplace, partnering across marketing teams to drive awareness and engagement through owned social media channels. You will be responsible for developing and implementing social strategies and campaigns that connect with players, brands, and influencers across multiple platforms. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution, including content calendar management, copywriting, publishing, community engagement, and performance analytics. You will serve as a strategic connector between business objectives and creative execution, maintaining a strong pulse on cultural trends and creator ecosystems while performing day-to-day social operations. The ideal candidate will bring both creative vision and data-driven insights to elevate content at scale, highlighting creators and community moments that drive discovery and sustained interest.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead social planning and execution for gaming marketplace initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader brand voice, social strategy, and business objectives Partner closely with product marketing and integrated marketing teams to understand priorities, timelines, and success metrics, translating them into effective social approaches and content plans Shape briefs and recommendations that enable creative teams to deliver culturally relevant, high-performing social content Maintain awareness of culture, platform trends, and creator ecosystems to identify opportunities for authentic connections with player behavior Manage day-to-day social operations including content planning, calendar management, copy development, publishing, community engagement, and light moderation Create, curate, and elevate social content at scale, highlighting creators, user-generated content, and community moments Track and interpret social performance across initiatives, contributing to campaign reporting and dashboards Use data and insights to optimize content and demonstrate impact against business goals Collaborate with stakeholders through regular meetings and strategic planning sessions Adapt quickly to the dynamic nature of social media while maintaining consistent brand presence across channels
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience working at a major game publisher or within the gaming sector Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing high-volume social media channels for well-known video game publishers or similar organizations Minimum 3-5 years of experience with social media strategy planning, goal setting, and implementation Demonstrated experience with analytical tools and performance reporting Portfolio or samples of previous social media strategy work preferred Previous knowledge of or experience with popular gaming franchises highly preferred Social media strategy planning, goal setting, and implementation Analytical ability with capacity to drive insight to action Copywriting for social media with ability to adapt to various tones of voice Data analysis and storytelling capabilities Project management and organizational skills Proficiency with Office 365 and analytics tools Knowledge of Sprinklr and native social media analytics platforms Understanding of current social media trends and platform dynamics Ability to influence without authority Strong communication and collaboration skills Creative thinking balanced with data-driven decision making Self-motivation and ability to work independently Community engagement and moderation capabilities
