Full Job Description Location:
Tennessee (Hybrid/Remote - Tennessee Residents Only)
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM CST (37.5 hours/week) We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communications Specialist to support statewide public health and maternal health initiatives. This role is responsible for developing engaging content, supporting outreach campaigns, creating visually compelling communications materials, and collaborating with internal and external partners to advance public health education efforts. The ideal candidate combines strong writing and storytelling abilities with graphic design skills and experience managing communications projects across multiple platforms. Key Responsibilities Develop and manage content for websites, newsletters, social media, reports, and print materials. Translate complex health information into clear, engaging, and audience-friendly communications. Create and edit communication materials using Canva and Microsoft Office tools. Support outreach and communication activities for statewide maternal health initiatives and partner organizations. Collaborate with subject matter experts, healthcare professionals, and community partners to develop culturally relevant content. Produce and distribute email newsletters and monitor engagement metrics. Prepare reports analyzing communication performance and recommending improvements. Ensure communications materials meet accessibility standards and compliance requirements. Assist with public awareness campaigns, community education initiatives, and stakeholder engagement efforts. Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative team environment. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional portfolio. 2+ years of communications, public relations, marketing, content development, or related experience. Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills. Experience using Canva and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience developing content for newsletters, websites, social media, and digital communications. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Tennessee residency required. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting public health, healthcare, nonprofit, or government communications. Experience with email marketing platforms such as Emma, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar tools. Experience tracking engagement metrics and preparing performance reports. Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG and Section 508. Experience creating communications for diverse audiences and community outreach initiatives.
Pay:
Up to $43.00 per hour
