Who We Are Founded in 1972, Environmental Traveling Companions (ETC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that makes the joy and challenge of outdoor adventure accessible to people with disabilities and youth from under-resourced backgrounds. Through Sea Kayaking, Whitewater Rafting, and Youth LEAD programs, ETC provides educational and transformational outdoor experiences that build self-confidence, foster connection to nature, and inspire environmental stewardship.

Headquartered at Fort Mason in San Francisco , with program operations in Sausalito, Tomales Bay, the American River, and the Sierra backcountry.
Our Team:
A year-round staff of eight, expanding to nearly 30 staff during peak summer months. We prioritize supporting historically marginalized communities in all aspects of our organization. Position Summary ETC is expanding its development team and seeking a Grants & Communications Coordinator to advance our mission through institutional fundraising and communications. This position manages corporate and government grant efforts while creating compelling communications that strengthen engagement and support fundraising efforts. The Coordinator also maintains development reporting systems (CRM) and collaborates on special events and stewardship initiatives.

Development Operations & Grant Management Research & Pipeline:
Identify prospective foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities.
Grant Writing:
Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and supporting materials.
Calendar Management:
Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar, including proposal deadlines, reporting requirements, and stewardship activities.
Data Tracking:
Track grant deliverables and outcomes in collaboration with program staff and leadership. Maintain accurate grant/donor records, gift entry, and reporting in Salesforce .
Corporate Giving:
Support efforts to expand corporate sponsorships and business partnerships. 2.
Communications & Marketing Content Creation:
Produce ETC's quarterly newsletter, marketing materials, and program communications.
Digital Presence:
Maintain ETC's website content, development-related collateral, and support social media communications as needed.
Storytelling:
Create written materials, impact stories, and stewardship content to engage donors. 3.
Events & Community Engagement Special Events:
Support the planning and execution of ETC fundraising and community events, including the annual Gala, Regatta, and other special events.
Campaign Support:
Assist with fundraising campaigns, including year-end appeals and special initiatives.
Qualifications Experience:
2-4 years of experience in nonprofit development, grant writing, communications, or related fields.
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent lived and professional experience.
Grant Writing:
Demonstrated grant writing experience, including foundation and government grants.
Technical Skills:
Experience maintaining donor or constituent records in Salesforce (or a similar CRM).
Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
Workflow:
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment; self-motivated and highly organized with strong follow-through.
Collaboration:
Team player who is comfortable supporting leadership and working across departments.

Location:
