Primary Work Months (Concert Seasons): January to May August to

Average 8-10 hours/week, with higher hours leading up to concerts
Compensation:
$25/hour This is a contract position.

Start Date:
August 1, 2026. With 50 active performers, Womansong is Asheville's largest and longest-running women's community chorus. Now in our 39th year, we are a non-profit organization with an active board, committee structure, and artistic staff.
Our mission:
"Singing Together for Joy, Social Justice and Community." We produce 5 major concert performances per year and sing at community events throughout the year. We are sponsoring our songwriting contest this year and in 2025-26 we recorded and released a 4-song EP. We support women in the Western North Carolina region through our philanthropic program, the New Start Fund. Required Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Abilities The Marketing & Communications Specialist will work independently, yet in conjunction with others, to support Womansong's mission and values https://womansong.org/). The Specialist will be detail-oriented, collaborative, well-organized and possess outstanding writing and speaking skills. The position requires experience with website management (Word Press), e-mail marketing (i.e.
MailChimp), and content creation/posting on social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Graphics creation is a plus. Major Responsibilities The Specialist will coordinate Womansong's external marketing communications, including: Drafting an annual Marketing Plan in collaboration with committee chairs, including Marketing, Performance, Development, and New Start Fund; the Artistic Team; and the Wise Woman Council (Board of Directors). Coordinating regularly with committee chairs and artistic directors to update the website using Wordpress. Producing a periodic e-newsletter using Mailchimp. Creating content to communicate Womansong's story and amplify the work of like-minded and similarly-focused organizations via social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube), e-mail marketing (Mailchimp). Maintaining the archive of marketing & publicity materials (videos, photos, graphics, font styles, video clips) for use in communications Managing publicity for Womansong events throughout the year, including new member recruitment, concerts and other performances, and special activities, by identifying target audiences, reaching out to print and online media outlets, setting up radio and magazine interviews, and creating and posting content. The work is concentrated during the concert seasons, with a lighter schedule during summer and winter breaks. The Marketing Specialist is expected to periodically attend a portion of Monday evening rehearsals and some weekend events. The position will be supervised by the Womansong Wise Woman Council (Board of Directors) Liaison.
