Exempt Position Summary:
The Communications Specialist serves as a key support position within the Office's communications function, assisting with content creation, media relations, internal communications, and digital communications efforts. The position is responsible for producing the Office's weekly external newsletter and monthly internal newsletter, supporting video production, assisting with media inquiries and press materials, maintaining digital content, and helping execute communications projects that keep stakeholders, media, and the public informed about the work of the Office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Content Development & Publications Produce and distribute the District Attorney's weekly external newsletter. Produce and distribute the Office's monthly internal employee newsletter. Draft and edit content for newsletters, website updates, social media platforms, and other communication channels. Assist with drafting press releases, media advisories, and other written materials as assigned. Maintain editorial calendars and content schedules. Video & Digital Communications Coordinate, film, edit, and publish the District Attorney's monthly video message. Support website content updates and ensure information remains current and accurate. Media Relations Support Assist with responding to routine media inquiries under the guidance of the Director of Public Affairs. Monitor media coverage and compile press clips and media reports. Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, English, Marketing or Journalism or other closely related field. Two (2) years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Flicker, etc.) and how they can be deployed Experience with at least one video editing software (iMovie, Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut Pro) Proficiency in Canva; Photoshop experience preferred but not required Exceptional copywriting skills Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format Ability to interact with officials, employees and the public with courtesy and tact
Pay:
$41,420.00 - $66,791.00 per year
