MEDCOM Communications Specialist Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council San Antonio, TX Job Details Full-time $20 - $25 an hour 19 hours ago Benefits Health savings account Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Flexible spending account Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Retirement plan Qualifications Microsoft Excel CAD EMT Certification Administrative experience High school diploma or GED Dispatching Attention to detail Organizational skills Typing Phone etiquette Full Job Description Job Summary The MEDCOM Coordinator serves as the entry point into the regional trauma transfer process, the navigation of specific patient groups, activation, and support of regional rescue resources and the Emergency Medical Task Force activation and monitoring processes across STRAC's 22 county region and the State of Texas. The MEDCOM Coordinator functions under the supervision of the MEDCOM Watch Commander, providing clinical communication support, gathering real-time medical intelligence on key components of the emergency healthcare system and ensures distribution of a common operating picture to STRAC staff and regional acute healthcare leadership and key partners. The MEDCOM Coordinator effectively brings together emergency healthcare related resources through various STRAC programs and initiatives. The MEDCOM Coordinator is expected to work effectively as a member of a team in a 24/7/365 dispatch call center environment working twelve (12) hour shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Job Qualifications Education:
High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
Experience:
Two to Three years of experience in healthcare, public safety, medical dispatching or related customer service/administrative position in the civilian or military sector
Preferred:
EMT. Required within 1 year of hiring.
Background:
No convictions or deferred adjudication for any crimes above a Class C misdemeanor.
Training:
Completion of ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 online courses required within the probationary period.
