Job Description
Hours:
This role will be available for days, nights, weekends, holidays as well as working 48 hours one week for the rest of 2026 until schedule changes. The Communication Specialist performs emergency and general communication functions to facilitate the dispatch and coordination for Flight For Life transport request, Post Accident Incident Plan (PAIP) activations, and other duties as assigned. The Communication Specialist works closely with pilots, medical staff, mechanics, and administration to ensure transports are completed in a professional and efficient manner.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Gather pertinent information from the caller, dispatch the appropriate transport team, relay appropriate aviation, navigation, meteorological, transport, and medical information according to policies and procedures in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. Follow all required flight, FAA and other activities needed until the mission is complete. Coordinates medical transport requests with requesting and receiving facilities and necessary support agencies. Complete all data entry and information for all requests according to standardized work. Assist with data entry and record keeping supporting quality improvement activities. Initiates and coordinates Post Accident Incident Plans and emergency plans as needed. Operates radio consoles, computers, software, multi-line phone system and an emergency line. Maintains electronic records and documents activities related to dispatch accurately. Monitors multiple radios to maintain awareness of outside activities. Troubleshoots problems initially and, if needed, notifies appropriate people. Comply with the annual continuing education requirements for Flight For Life and IAMTCS. Participates in PR functions, staff meetings, performance improvement processes, and educational opportunities.WORK ENVIRONMENT

Required:
Capable of handling stressful situations, multi-tasking, possessing excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills, and is responsible for developing a positive working relationship with all members. Ability to flex your work schedule to be able to work varying shifts, including nights, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Ability to work independently and as a team in determining "all to say go." Reads maps and mapping software accurately. Complete NIMS 100 and 200 courses within one year of hire. IAMTCS (International Association of Medical Transport Communication Specialists) certified Flight Communicator required (within 2 years of hire). Be able to listen to multiple sources of information simultaneously. Be able to multi-task with multiple phones, radios and computers at the same time. Detail oriented with clear and concise communication.Preferred:
Police, EMS, Fire, 9-1-1 or emergency medical dispatching experience. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. EMT certification or equivalent in knowledge or experience. Medical terminology knowledge. Working knowledge and practical application of EMS radio systems. Working knowledge and proficiency of electronic communication and specific computer aided dispatch software products.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
