In this role, you will support and enhance mission-critical payments platforms (including internal EPO and EPE applications ) that handle wire transfers and instant payment (IP) rails . The role demands a seasoned professional with deep payments domain knowledge and technical acumen to navigate complex integrations and hit the ground running , ensuring minimal ramp-up time for this business-critical, multi-year transformation program .
Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for enhancements to the bank's enterprise payment platforms (EPO/EPE) . Work closely with business stakeholders to clarify needs in wire payments and real-time/instant payment workflows , ensuring alignment with compliance and operational standards.
Payments Platform Expertise:
Serve as a subject matter expert on EPO and EPE systems , including full understanding of how these platforms manage wire (FedWire/CHIPS) and IP (immediate payment) processing . Leverage your experience to advise on improvements, integrations with upstream/downstream systems , and to foresee potential impacts of changes.
Integration & Payments Flow Management:
Analyze and document end-to-end payment flows and integrations between systems. Use tools like Payment Tracker and EPX UI for monitoring and tracing transactions across various payment rails. Ensure continuity of critical information flows across the enterprise's payments ecosystem.
Testing & Support Coordination:
Collaborate with QA and development teams to define acceptance criteria and test scenarios for new features. Provide support for user acceptance testing (UAT) and leverage an understanding of automation testing (e.g., reviewing test cases/scripts, verifying results) to ensure quality deliverables. Assist in diagnosing production issues by analyzing logs and data (including querying MongoDB for troubleshooting) and coordinating timely resolution with technical teams.
Stakeholder Communication & Process Improvement:
Engage with cross-functional teams (developers, testers, operations, and business users) to ensure clear communication of functional requirements and constraints. Utilize Wells Fargo's internal developer tools and processes (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, CI/CD pipelines) for tracking requirements, changes, and deliverables. Contribute to process improvement and documentation for knowledge retention, mitigating risk from team transitions by capturing complex workflows and domain details.
Skill Requirements Domain Expertise:
Strong background in banking payments with 8-10 years as a Business Analyst or similar role in enterprise payment systems . In-depth knowledge of wire transfer processing and modern payment rails (e.g., SWIFT, FedWire, CHIPS, real-time payments) . Familiarity with ISO 20022 and other payment message standards, as well as compliance and regulatory considerations in payments.
Payments Systems Familiarity:
Hands-on experience with enterprise payments platforms - particularly any similar to EPO (Enterprise Payment Origination) and EPE (Enterprise Payment Engine) or EPX - is highly desirable to reduce ramp-up time. Understanding of Payment Tracker and EPX UI (or comparable transaction monitoring tools) to track payment statuses and troubleshoot issues is a significant plus.
Business Analysis & Integration Skills:
Proven ability in requirements gathering, process mapping, and documentation for complex, integrated systems. Experience analyzing multi-system integrations (interfaces between payment origination, execution, and settlement systems) and coordinating across IT and business teams to ensure seamless flow of data.
Technical Acumen:
Comfortable working with technical teams and tools - e.g., basic proficiency in database queries (especially MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases) for data analysis and verification, familiarity with automation testing practices , and general knowledge of the software development lifecycle ( SDLC ). Experience working in environments with strict SDLC processes and developer toolchains (for example, familiarity with Wells Fargo's internal development tools , JIRA, Confluence, etc.) is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities in a client-facing environment , with an ability to clearly translate complex technical details into business context and vice versa.
