Job Description

Job Title:
Ecommerce & Website Specialist Location:
Selma, NC (on-site — ~35 min from Raleigh)
Employment Type:
Full-time We're hiring an ecommerce specialist who loves a good product page as much as we do. DeWayne's is looking for an Ecommerce & Website Specialist to manage the day-to-day operations, merchandising, and growth of our online store. If you light up when a product page converts, obsess over clean navigation, and think good alt text is a love language… keep reading. This is not a set-it-and-forget-it website job. You'll be the person making sure new arrivals go live the day they hit the floor, product photography looks crisp, pages load fast, and our online customers get the same "Distinctively Different" experience our in-store guests do. About DeWayne's We're a retail destination built on a simple idea: be a happy place to work and shop. Everything from our culture down to our merchandise is "Distinctively Different," our team is tight-knit, and our customers are loyal because we treat them well. Our website should feel the same way — warm, easy to browse, and full of things people actually want to take home. Check this video out for more information: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCiwuePu4YQ&t=9s What you'll do Manage our ecommerce storefront end-to-end — new products, collections, landing pages, site navigation, theme updates, and app or plugin configurations on WordPress/WooCommerce, Shopify, or similar Merchandise the site daily — feature new arrivals, refresh collection pages, swap seasonal banners, retire out-of-stock items, and align the homepage with active promotions Maintain the product catalog — accurate titles, descriptions, pricing, SKUs, categories, inventory, variants, and high-quality photography Keep the calendar in sync — coordinate with buyers, merchandisers, and the Marketing Manager so online launches match in-store launches and promotional campaigns Optimize for conversion — monitor product page performance, test layouts and copy, improve mobile UX, and shorten the path to checkout Handle on-page SEO — product titles, meta descriptions, alt text, URL structure, and internal linking Track what's working — pull reports from platform analytics and GA4; share monthly insights and recommendations with leadership Support ecommerce operations — troubleshoot order, fulfillment, and payment issues alongside the store team; manage returns and customer service inquiries that come through the site Keep the tech stack tidy — manage plugins, apps, and integrations; make basic theme edits (Liquid, PHP, Gutenberg, Elementor, or similar) when small tweaks are needed What we're looking for 2-3 years of hands-on ecommerce experience on at least one major platform (WooCommerce, Shopify, BigCommerce, or similar) for a brand, retailer, or agency A portfolio — you must submit one with your application. Show us stores you've built, managed, or meaningfully improved, and what you changed about them. Fluency in the admin of your primary platform — products, collections, discounts, shipping zones, taxes, customer accounts, and reports Comfort with basic HTML, CSS, and template editing (you don't need to be a developer, but "I can't touch the theme" isn't going to cut it) Working knowledge of Google Analytics (GA4) and platform-native analytics , and how to pull a useful report Solid grasp of on-page SEO and how it applies to ecommerce product pages Sharp writing skills — product descriptions that sell without sounding like a robot wrote them Reliable transportation and ability to be on-site in Selma, NC Nice to have Associate's or Bachelor's in Marketing, Ecommerce, Communications, Business, Web Development, or a related field Experience on multiple platforms (e.g., both WooCommerce and Shopify) Experience with Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or another ecommerce email platform Experience with Shopify Plus, WooCommerce at scale, or POS-to-ecommerce inventory sync Familiarity with Meta Pixel, Google Merchant Center, and product feed management Retail, lifestyle, or home goods brand experience Basic design chops in Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva (for banners, email graphics, product imagery cleanup) Experience with paid search or shopping ads (Google Ads, Meta Ads) What we offer Competitive pay based on experience and portfolio Medical Insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), Paid Time Off (PTO), Employee Discount, IRA, IRA Employer Match, Three paid holidays per year (Easter, Thanksgiving, & Christmas). Real creative direction — once aligned with the company brand, you'll drive the site, not ask permission for every update A supportive team that celebrates wins and has each other's backs A store full of beautiful product that's genuinely fun to merchandise online How to apply Send us your résumé and a portfolio link (live stores you've worked on, case studies, screenshots, or a PDF — whatever shows your work best). Tell us what you changed and what happened after. Applications without a portfolio won't be reviewed. We can't wait to see what you've built.
