Position DetailsThis is a part-time, non-benefited position responsible for bookstore accounting, marketing, merchandising, customer service, cashiering, and mailroom operations. The individual in this role works collaboratively with bookstore staff and campus partners to support efficient operations, accurate financial processing, promotional efforts, and mail services.

HoursApproximately 19-20 hours per week, 12 months per year, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Rare late hours or weekends may be required to meet seasonal demands of the position. The bookstore is typically open 3 Saturdays per year for limited hours and sells at some athletic events.

AccountingEnter purchase orders, receiving, and invoicing on a weekly basisBalance credit card statements and submit vouchers as necessary to the Business Office in a timely mannerSubmit appropriate billing for major suppliers to the Business Office monthly2. MarketingDevelop & implement marketing campaigns utilizing multiple communication channels, including social media, email marketing, print, and online platformsAssist with maintaining the bookstore websiteAssist with planning store sales and promotional eventsOrganize and create marketing content, including photo shoots and social media materials3. Merchandising and Customer ServiceCoordinate ordering processes and work closely with vendor sales representatives on product selection, ordering, and maintaining inventory levelsMaintain a working knowledge of general merchandise software, including applications and processes for improving department efficienciesPerform cashier duties and provide excellent customer serviceDemonstrate proficiency with register functions and a clear understanding of transaction procedures and store policies4. Mailroom OperationsSupport mailroom functions as needed, including receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail and packagesPrepare outgoing mail and shipments in compliance with university procedures and carrier requirementsMinimum QualificationsAssociate degree in Accounting, Marketing, or a related field preferred; candidates with equivalent experience in a related field are also encouraged to applyExcellent customer service skills and the ability to interact positively with faculty, staff, students, customers, vendors, and other visitorsExperience with social media, accounting systems, word processing, and spreadsheet computer applicationsExperience and ability to learn computer programs; experience with retail systems preferredAbility to perform essential job functions, with or without accommodations, including lifting and/or carrying up to 40 pounds, bending, reaching, walking, and standing for extended periodsAbility to work a varied schedule as needed for events Applicants must submit the following materials to be considered fully: ResumeCover LetterThree professional referencesMayville State University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from diverse candidates and candidates who support diversity.
