The Role We're looking for a detail-driven Ecommerce Product Specialist to own the foundation every one of our sales channels is built on: accurate, complete, and consistent product information. This is a dedicated merchandising role focused on products and the data behind them—and getting that foundation right is the most important thing you'll do. That focus doesn't change as you grow in the role; it deepens. You'll measure, document, and verify product specifications and attributes, shoot and edit product photography, and write SEO- and AEO-optimized base content—building the source-of-truth product record that everything downstream depends on. Our wholesale and distributor sales, Shopify, Amazon, eBay, and Walmart all draw from the data you produce. When any team builds a listing, a quote, or a campaign, they start from your work. Your scope is every product The Lab Stockroom sells. The best person in this role doesn't just produce accurate data—they build it with SEO and AEO fluency baked in, so that turning a product record into platform-ready content is nearly instant. You own the product foundation; the channel teams build their campaigns, positioning, and growth on top of what you create. Key Responsibilities Product Data & Measurements Measure, document, and verify product dimensions, weight, specifications, and attributes Build and maintain the source-of-truth product record that every channel draws from Keep product data clean, complete, standardized, and consistent across the catalog Apply pricing updates to the product record when provided exact specifications (this role does not set or decide pricing) Product Content (SEO & AEO) Write SEO- and AEO-optimized product titles, descriptions, and bullet points as part of the base record Structure product content so it translates into platform-ready listings quickly and consistently Product Photography Plan, shoot, and edit product photography to brand and platform standards New Product Merchandising & Project Work Build the complete product record—data, content, and photography—for newly added products Take on instructed merchandising and data projects as assigned Coordinate with internal teams to prepare accurate, complete product data ahead of launches Research & Product Support Conduct competitor and keyword research to sharpen product content, positioning, and discoverability Serve as a product-knowledge resource for technical product questions, as needed Required Skills & Experience Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy—this role is the source of truth, and errors here propagate to every channel 2-4 years in ecommerce merchandising, product/catalog data management, or a closely related role Strong SEO and AEO fluency, with the ability to write clear, optimized product content Comfortable shooting and editing product photography Highly organized, able to manage many products and projects without dropping details Clear, professional written communication Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with scientific, educational, or technical products, or a science background Experience with a PIM such as Salsify and with large catalogs (5,000+ SKUs) Amazon Seller Central or other marketplace experience Graphic design or visual content skills You'll Be Successful If You Are Meticulous—you catch the error before it ships Energized by bringing structure and consistency to messy product data Fluent enough in SEO and AEO that optimizing is instinctive, not an afterthought A builder of clean foundations the rest of the team can rely on Working Conditions Fast-paced entrepreneurial environment; no two days are exactly alike. Standard office environment with occasional need for light lifting (up to 25 lbs). Typically works in an office with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level. Work assignments are diversified; new situations arise regularly and require judgment to resolve. A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on a routine basis.
