Job purpose As a member of DC International's Centers of Excellence team, the Merchandising Operations Analyst, eCommerce Merchandising partners closely with Merchandising, Marketing, IT, and Operations to evaluate business workflows, analyze data, document and optimize standard procedures, and train end users on tools and processes that support a scalable, growth-driven merchandising organization. This role blends technical analytics skills (data modeling, visualization, integration, and data analysis) with business process knowledge in merchandising and eCommerce. The ideal candidate combines hands-on technical ability with strong communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills — someone who can bridge the gap between data and business strategy, turning information into insights that drive informed decision-making across the organization. Duties and responsibilities The following outlines the primary duties and responsibilities of the Merchandising Operations Analyst, eCommerce Merchandising . These responsibilities provide a guide to the core functions of the role and are not intended to be all-inclusive. Process Documentation & Optimization Gain in-depth understanding of merchandising workflows, including the use of Business Central, Salsify, Shopify, Toolio, Jira and related systems. Document current-state processes (e.g., assortment planning, item setup, forecasting, and inventory control) and identify opportunities to streamline and standardize them. Manage governance of merchandising data in Salsify and Toolio, including new attributes, accuracy, and completeness. Serve as system administrator, overseeing product setup, user access, and configurations. Collaborate with business and technical teams to recommend process and system improvements that drive efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Ensure documentation is continuously updated, accessible, and relevant. Data Analysis, Reporting & Integration Analyze large, complex datasets across multiple systems to support merchandising, marketing, and operational decisions. Use SQL, Power BI, and Power Query to extract, cleanse, transform, and visualize data from multiple sources. Integrate and analyze data from multiple systems, supporting data governance efforts to ensure consistency, accuracy, and usability across reporting and business workflows. Partner with IT and Merchandising teams to define reporting requirements, develop dashboards, and ensure accuracy and consistency of key performance data. Perform manual data reviews and assist in the development and maintenance of automated audit processes to ensure product and merchandising data integrity across ERP, PIM, and other systems. Perform ad hoc analysis as needed to support business initiatives, uncover trends, or answer one-off questions from stakeholders. Merchandising & Inventory Planning Support Support and maintain the merchandise planning calendar to ensure alignment and timely execution of each step of the process. Support merchandise planning processes by preparing data, tracking inputs, and coordinating with cross-functional partners. Assist with top-down forecasting and re-forecasting activities by preparing analysis and insights. Help monitor inventory performance, turns, and flow, flagging risks and opportunities. Assist with root cause analysis related to missed sales opportunities or inventory issues. Collaborate closely with the warehouse team to align inventory plans and capacity constraints. Continuously identify and recommend process improvements to enhance planning efficiency and accuracy. Support teams with ad hoc business analysis as needed to drive informed decision-making. Communication, Collaboration & Training Serve as a knowledge resource on item setup, data structures, and merchandising processes. Communicate system and process updates, enhancements, and changes to stakeholders at all levels. Develop and deliver engaging training materials (written guides, hands-on sessions, and on-demand learning). Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure adoption of best practices and consistent process execution. Troubleshoot system or process issues and provide guidance to teams to resolve challenges quickly and effectively. Stay informed of industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.Qualifications Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Merchandising, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field. 1-3 years of professional experience in a business planning, retail analyst, or merchandising operations role (eCommerce experience preferred). Demonstrated proficiency in advanced Excel (formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation); macros a plus. Experience in SQL, Power BI, and/or Power Query a plus. Experience with data cleansing, transformation, and integration from multiple systems. Strong understanding of merchandising, item setup, and product lifecycle workflows. Understanding of data governance principles, including data quality management, ownership, and process accountability. Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable business insights. Excellent time management, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels.
