This position includes a variety of responsibilities, including helping customers in our storefront, answering phones, assisting with sales, supporting daily shop operations, and possible shipping duties. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys customer service, specialty retail, photography/editing, marketing, and working around high-end handmade products. No knife experience is required, but curiosity and a willingness to learn are important. BladeGallery has been a trusted name in the custom knife world for decades. Our web-based business has been online since 1997, and our storefront has been established since 2003. We recently moved from Kirkland to a much larger location in Seattle and are looking to add the right person to our growing team. We are one of the leaders in the handcrafted custom knife market and are also internationally recognized as a culinary knife shop. We work with a wide range of products, from handmade collector knives to professional kitchen knives, so attention to detail, strong communication skills, and excellent customer service are essential. We are a small team with shared responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a friendly, professional demeanor and be comfortable working directly with customers in person and over the phone. We are looking for someone dependable, respectful, detail-oriented, and willing to help wherever needed. We are happy to train the right person on our products, makers, steels, materials, and sales process.
Responsibilities include:
Greeting and assisting customers in the storefront Answering phones and responding to customer questions Helping with sales and customer service Learning about our wide range of custom and culinary knives Assisting with shipping duties as needed Supporting daily shop operations Working as part of a small team in a professional and respectful manner Helping maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming retail environment Must be okay around dogs, as we have two shop dogs Helpful skills: Photoshop experience is extremely helpful Advertising or marketing experience is a huge plus SEO experience is a huge plus Product listing, or e-commerce experience is a plus Strong computer skills are preferred Experience with Quickbooks is a plus, but not required Previous retail, sales, or customer service experience is preferred An interest in knives, culinary tools, craftsmanship, collecting, outdoor gear, or handmade goods is a plus, but not required Candidates with Photoshop, advertising, SEO, product listing, or e-commerce experience may have the opportunity to assist with online product presentation and marketing. Compensation and benefits:
Starting pay is $22-$24 per hour , depending on experience. We believe in rewarding dependable, hard-working employees, and there are opportunities for raises as responsibilities, performance, and product knowledge grow . Full-time employees are eligible for generous health care coverage , as well as vacation and sick pay . Full-time hours are typically approximately 10 AM to 6 PM, five days per week . Part-time schedules may also be available.
